I finally became a dues paying member because of this. When can I expect my card?
Let me clarify that: I certainly support compensating people who are working for the party at the national or state/local level as employees. I certainly support compensating those who spend endless hours outside in both good and bad weather, convincing voters to sign petitions for ballot access.
But I do not support giving commissions to those that we ELECT to represent us as VOLUNTEERS on the board of directors of what is technically a non-profit corporation. Sickening. Just sickening.
First we were sold a bill of goods (which I voted against) to buy an undefined software product to be delivered in three weeks (and that was not delivered even after they had the money for several months) at a price determined before the specifications were written, and now this…FROM THE SAME PEOPLE!!!
Sickening. Just sickening.
South Carolina is holding a big campaign event next week, designed to hopefully grow the party — but more importantly to get Governor Johnson and Judge Grey more votes! It has nothing to do with this “DoubleTheLP” thingy, so if our membership does grow this month we know the real reason…our great candidates!
…and of course our state party officers are not going to be skimming money off the top as commissions for bringing in new members.
And I sure as heck hope that anyone we sign up at our event or during this campaign season does NOT get counted as part of the DoubleDip’nfromtheLP’sPocket event as part of some LNC members’ commissions.
I had an idea like this several years ago. I’m glad to see that somebody is launching a recruiting plan to grow the size of the party. There are a heck of a lot of people out there who are small “l” libertarians – some who know that they are small “l” libertarians, and some who do not even know what the word libertarian means – and if even a small fraction of these people could be recruited into the party, the Libertarian Party would be a heck of a lot bigger than it is right now. A bigger party means that more money could be raised, and if that could happen the party could have a much bigger effect on elections in this country.

well it would be a good idea if the GaryJohnson2012.com not onl had a donate to the Johnson but also asked people to join the party and register as libertarians
I like it, I think more of us should come up with ideas like this.
