Danny Panzella, Chairman of the Staten Island Libertarian Party, was arrested yesterday while handing out flyers during a drill at Pennsylvania Station in New York. The NYPD were releasing perfluoroacarbon gas in several NYC stations to study air flow in the event of bioterrorism. Mr. Panzella and some members of the newly organized Peaceful Streets Project made up some flyers and were handing them out when security guards at the station arrested him.

Nice to see Peaceful Streets Project spreading beyond Austin.
CiNY @ 8: You can send your article or info to one of the writers of the site. They’re listed on the “About” section above. Some of us have listed our phone numbers and/or email addresses. You’re welcome to send me an email at [email protected]. The only “rule” we have is that the topic has to do with third parties or independents (or be written by someone in one of those parties.)
I have a question, how does one submit news to the site?
RR @ 3: Yes, there have been several incidents where actual attacks have occurred during drills. I understand that was the case on the day of the Boston Marathon, and I know it was true on 9/11/2001. Thanks for pointing that out.
Danny Panzella is one of the good guys. Very happy he is publicizing this issue. And very sorry he had to deal with the un-Constitutional harassment – but unfortunately that type of thing is all too common here in NYC.
missed you st Freedom Fest Roger:)
you fuckin kick some ass Danny Panzella!
Given the tendency of government “drills” to become “attacks” that government then is seen “responding to,” it is actually possible that this brave group of heroes may have stopped a serious attack on NYC subways.
The 7/7/2005 subway “attacks” on the London subways actually occurred at the very place and time that London national security police were conducting a “drill.”
Thanks Jill for posting.
People like Danny and Antonio are in the trenches on the front lines fighting the good fight day after day.
Thanks to Mark Axinn for sending this to us.
I was particularly pleased because the video mentions the Peaceful Streets Project. This is a group which was started in Austin, Texas by Antonio Beuhler. He was arrested in the early hours of January 1, 2012 because he stopped to videotape what he believed to be abusive behavior by the Austin PD as they questioned a pair of young ladies. Antonio was asked to stop filming, and was arrested. Well, turns out that Antonio is a Westpoint graduate and veteran. He turned his case of police overreach into the Peaceful Streets Project. If you’d like to keep up with them, here’s a Facebook page:
