I don’t see any reason to believe there was any intentional deception.
Project Bait and Switch continues a long LNC tradition. There is coverage in the latest Liberty for America issue Libertyforamerica dot com. At least one LNC member ranted that the people complaining about the David F Nolan Memorial 2% of a Building were not donors.
Of course, many of us have worked out that when the LNC says it is raising money for something, what actually happens can be interesting.
The asking price for the David F Nolan Memorial 2% of a Building is around $330 per square foot. If you went to Manchester New Hampshire you could get a real building with parking galore and room to grow for only $100 or $60/square foot. On the bright side, each of the current staff members will have more than 500 square feet of working space (a bit less if they hire Wes Benedict).
Just call it a Office Fund, Real Estate Fund, Future Fund, whatever.
I agree that the copy send out to all should have been candid.
Did the deal shift to an office condo after the fundraising started and the term just stuck?
It’s not deception to refer to the “LNC Building Committee” by its name. The fact that the Committee is not actually buying a building IS shameful, but the Committee’s name is a fact and should be placed on the agenda accordingly.
I once dated a compulsive liar. She’d make shit up and screw people over even if it didn’t seemingly benefit her to do so. She just couldn’t seem to help herself.
There seems to be some kind of equivalent organizational syndrome, of which the LNC is an ongoing prime example.
Well, I see the deception continues. Still called a “building” not an “office” both on the agenda as well as the latest mailing of LP News. I think this is shameful.
