Three important days in January are January 1st, the day we plan the New Year, January 7th, the day Congress and your state legislature convenes. At the first of this New Year let us set some time aside to pray for our nation and also time to contact our elected representatives. Fervent prayer has the power to change individuals, groups, and our nation, and frequent communication with those we elect sometimes brings miraculous results.
As the War for Independence progressed from Lexington & Concord to the final battle at Yorktown, the Continental Congress frequently proclaimed days of fasting, thanksgiving, and prayer. Those prayers were heard and answered with miraculous events which many times saved our forces and sometimes resulted in unexpected victories for them.
Our liberties as a people are hanging in the balance just as they were during the War for Independence. As the powers of heaven were called down upon the early patriots by fervent prayer, should we not ask for those same blessings upon our efforts to preserve liberty now? Let us rededicate our lives to live as closely as we can to God’s law and implore His strength in this important work. As we do so, our Father in Heaven will hear us and bless our efforts now as He has in the past.
As we pray daily for our liberty, let us ask for these specific blessings:
- The ‘Compact for America’ promotes an Amendment Convention for the purpose of bringing Washington under control of the Constitution, a result fervently to be hoped for. However, if Congress regularly bypasses the Constitution and exceeds its delegated powers, as it often does, what would keep Congress from doing the same with the new Amendments? The constitution isn’t broken, our elected representatives are broken. See more information on the issue. Pray that state legislatures will not call a Constitutional Convention, Amendment or otherwise. Consider sending a prepared letter.
- The Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP, and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, TPIP, are both being pushed by globalists in Congress & the Administration. As usual, they are being promoted as a means to our economic prosperity just as NAFTA was. NAFTA destroyed a portion of our industrial base along with tens of thousands of our jobs. Pray that TPP and TPIP may be defeated. See more information on this issue.
- The truth of the Presidents’ deceit concerning Obamacare is widely known and is grounds for impeachment. The Constitution defines one reason for impeachment as “High Crimes and Misdemeanors.” If repeatedly lying to the American public on Obamacare doesn’t fit this description then nothing else will. Please pray that the impeachment of President Obama may proceed to a just conclusion. Pray also that the media may be truthful about the activities of those in government and that Congress will rebuild our Republic. See more information on this issue.
- Our nation is under attack as never before. The attack is from within, by special interests who control many in Congress and the Presidential Administration. The Washington Insiders are intent on destroying traditional American Freedoms and our inspired Constitution. We are in need of Divine intervention to stop these forces of totalitarianism.
As you pray for America, pray that the miracles so prevalent in the War for Independence may be in evidence to restore our lost freedoms. Ask that the Insiders may lose their financial, political, and media support, and that this support may be added to forces intent on restoring liberty. As we do so, His blessings will come into our families and our nation. Let us remember God’s great promise to us written in II Chronicles.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7: 14.
Let our faith be strong, and as we do our part God’s blessings will flow like a river in support of freedom’s great restoration in our blessed land.
