Free and Equal: United We Stand Fest a Success!

UWS ADedicated supporter,
Thank you Free & Equal Election Foundation supporters! We did it!
Together we made the United We Stand Festival happen at the Belasco Theater in LA on May 10th, 2014.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvLHSTdwwKg

We overcame huge obstacles to make this festival a success. Originally scheduled to be held on the UCLA campus, the festival had to move at the last minute. Supporters blasted the word out, and the crowds came, packing the house. We made the event free and open to the public. Now we need to ask our supporters to chip in.

We are launching an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign this Monday!

We need to raise $15,000 in 15 days to keep the momentum going, to cover the cost of relocating to a new venue, to hold more United We Stand Festivals, and to develop our Election Assistant App to inform voters of all their choices.

Can you pledge a certain amount before the campaign goes live on Monday? Please click here to fill out our pledge form.

The success of the event is due to our hardworking volunteers, coalition partners, musicians Immortal Technique, Cappadonna & U-God of Wu-Tang Clan, comedian Lee Camp, Paul Masvidal of Cynic, The Siren, Kellee Maize, Rooftop Revolutionaries, A-Alikes, Luminaries, activists Sean Stone, Jill Stein, Marianne Williamson, Foster Gamble (Thrive), Nick Bernabe (March Against Monsanto), author David Swanson, Dan Johnson (People Against the NDAA), author Pamela Donnelly, poet Nano Munoz, Emma Cape (Free Chelsea Manning), Richard Gage (Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth), emcee & hip-hop activist Rosa Clemente, Luis Rodriguez, journalists Abby Martin, Ben Swann, Amber Lyon, Maytha Alhassen, Luke Rudkowski, Mnar Muhawesh and many more.

While the status quo power structures try to divide us, Free & Equal brought the people together to connect, to exchange ideas, to start taking back our democracy, fighting against the Patriot Act, NDAA, NSA, endless warfare, the war on drugs, pollution, election fraud, drones, GMOs, police brutality, and the attack on net neutrality.

Go to our IndieGoGo page when it goes live this Monday!

Your donation will go toward supporting the causes you care about because Free & Equal is about helping every individual have an equal voice in the election process. With your donation you can get amazing prizes like the official United We Stand Fest Live DVD before it comes out, posters autographed by Chuck D of Public Enemy & Larry King, backstage passes to any and all future United We Stand events, and much more.

I wonder if there will be more fests. 15k does not sound like enough for that.

I think that $15,000 isn’t too bad of an amount to be short, considering all that happened. Maybe there will be more events, since many lessons were learned here. This was a huge undertaking, for sure.
