Who owns you? Who runs your life? Who should — you or someone else?
Freedom is the answer — what’s the question?

Mike, you may need to sort your dates further back. I know that he has been a dues paying member in the past. I won’t tell you how I know.
No. It would be entirely counterproductive to that end. Gary and I don’t agree there and I will not sugar coat it.
There I am wlling to agree with him. I would prefer a soft landing if it is possible. But I don’t believe that the “fair” tax or anything like that is any kind of step in a positive direction. Quite the opposite.
UNfortunately agreed.
I was there at the podium with Mark Hinkle when Gary changed his registration, then ran it over to the Secretary of State’s office in the adjoining building when he was done.
As for searching the data dump files, I sorted them by last name, then first name. No “Gary Johnson” amongst the “J” entries.
or a “Gary E. Johnson”
Might be worth checking the dump for “Gary Earl Johnson”
I was present in Santa Fe when Governor Johnson announced that he was leaving the RP to run for the LP nomination. I sat next to Mark Hinkle, and later watched Mark hand Gary a membership form to sign in public. It was my impression that Governor Johnson signed up as a life member at that time. There might even be video of that moment out there somewhere.
I wrote at the time:

“I drove down from Park City for the announcement and reception yesterday. I’ve never felt better about being a Libertarian.
I am anti-force (and thus anti-tax), and yet realize there is $16,000,000,000,000+ that has to be either repudiated or repaid. I suppose the (so called) fair tax may be the best way to manage that. My impression is Gary Johnson would advocate transition to voluntary revenue generation for government, and that there has to be a transition to that from the mess we’re in.
I’ll work for that, but frankly, I don’t see a lot of hope for real change. I see a 2016 and 2020 with $30 trillion or more in debt, and a federal police force evolving out of the TSA to ensure the military/industrial/transnational corporate empire expands unabated.”
Very wierd. I would have thought he would be a life member?
Check your expired members. There was a press release about him joining when he switched to the LP race so he must have paid dues tehn even if he hasn’t since.
I just checked several of the data dump files (Sept 2012, Oct 2012, Nov 2012, Oct 2013, as well as the current one) and didn’t find a “Gary Johnson” in ANY of them.
If he is a member of LPNM he should be in your data dump from National.
I have an email address which he told me he checks but it may actually be his son or an account they share.
I don’t think I have permission to give it out.
Actually, while Gary Johnson is a member of the LPNM, we of the LPNM have to go through OAI to get ahold of him for anything. Does anyone on the LP side of things have a way to contact Gary directly?
Other people hadn’t. But Fest or no fest, there are always many events to choose from to try to get the largest possible audience and/or donor exposure as well as many business and personal commitments that may pose a schedule conflict, so you should never presume that Gary would have to be somewhere. He may have somewhere else he has to be.
I have not really been keeping up with the United We Stand Festival. It has been postponed so many times that I stopped paying attention to it.
Yes, but clearly it is more important that he make his state LP convention again this year.
Uh, duh! He will be at the United We Stand Fest at UCLA!

Judge Gray will be at Alabama’s also that same day along with Carla Howell and Sharon Harris
Um…because Free and Equal fest in LA is the same day and Gary is booked for that.
Has it occurred to you that he may have something else scheduled that day than speaking to ten or twenty or thirty LP members who have already heard him before?
GJ spoke at past LPNM Conventions. He’s making the circuit obviously, but may have chosen to skip his home state this year. He cannot be expected to be there every time.
This event cannot be a borefest. There is a bar at the Marriot and Mike has done a fine job as Chair of LPNM. I wish Mike and all the Libertarians in NM a fine convention.

I’m not surprised.”
Why are you not surprised? Gary Johnson lives in New Mexico, and he’s a member of the Libertarian Party. He just got the highest vote total of any Libertarian Party candidate for President in New Mexico in history. One would think that he’d speak at their state party convention.
Two hours scheduled for business – that’s bold. I like it.
CLC, I’m pretty sure I hear your parent and/or guardian calling you. Time to get your nappies changed I imagine. Godbless you, Concerned Hobo!
CLC
Website would be just fine, and better, without you, honestly.
LG
Dunno. I can’t get a hold of him. He said he may move there but he has said a lot of things.
But then I can’t really get a hold of you either except in print and barely that anymore 🙁
doesn’t Sparkman live there now?
My comments should win the pulitzer. You know that. Without my comments this website wound be a borefest. God bless you and God bless IPR.
Your entire comment history? You betcha.
Borefest
I’m not surprised.
I’m surprised that Gary Johnson is not booked as a speaker for this convention, considering that Gary Johnson is from New Mexico.
