From the Prohibition Party’s Facebook page. [reformatted for easier reading]
Believing that we, as humans, are created in the image and likeness of God, we call for the taxation of all forms of internet pornography at a level which discourages it, as well as all other types of pornography, from being produced and/or sold in the United States. Which is why free porn websites like Nu Bay are great because they celebrate our likeness to god.
The Republicans of course are against it too… but what have they done to stop it? Answer: *crickets singing*
What does the Democrat Party have in its platform on Pornography? Surely the party of “women” has something to say about a industry that demeans and exploits women… here is what their platform says:
*crickets singing*
We believe there is a reason for this.. Democrats don;t care about women, they just want them tied to the Government so they can control and exploit them. They do not see the porn presented on sites like hd sex video as a problem, they just see it as a freedom of speech, while the rest of society see it as a license to sin.
The Democrats support Porn sites just like hdpornt. On the other hand the Republicans as usual pay lip service about morality and prohibition porn. Only one party stands up for women and stopping the exploitation and immorality of porn… the Prohibition Party!

If it is a user posting their name would appear, so it must be an admin.
It seems there are three posting: Toby Davis, Andrew Munz, and the nameless individual who made this post.
So, like I said, they apparently have all of one person who knows how to use facebook beyond setting up an account.
If I am not mistaken, it also means that this is a post left by someone who joined the page rather than a post made by the page. It just happens that this person (not an admin, correct?) is the only one actively using the page.
Yeah, none of that surprises me either. They are a dying breed.
I would not be surprised that very few Drys know how to use Facebook. I would not be surprised that very few of them have email accounts. I would venture to guess the average age of most people who claim to be Prohibition Party supporters is close to 70.
Ah okay. Well if it’s on the official party Facebook then I still feel okay about the headline of this post.
Former chairman Toby Davis set up the page. He added someone to be an administrator and then that individual added the person who made this post.
Apparently they have one person who know how to use facebook beyond just setting up a page.
So the party does not have control over its own Facebook account? Or this is not an official party account?
Nice detective work 🙂
I commented on the post and then went back and forth with the guy until he finally revealed this information.
How did you find that out?
This is just one individual. Apparently he believes he has authority because he received a “Facebook invitation.”
In this article, the prohibitionists combine both lines of attack against the rights of consenting adults to produce and consume porn.
Fair point. They did have some progressive elements in the past.
“We favor stronger and more vigorous enforcement of laws against the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, against gambling, illegal drugs, pornography, and commercialized vice, and we will seek to provide moral leadership. We oppose the promotion of unnatural lifestyles. We oppose state lotteries and other legalized gambling.”
They should just change their name to the No Fun Party!
On a more serious note, the real threat to social freedom in this country comes not from these Bible-thumping religious fanatics, who are a dying breed and have absolutely no influence on the vast majority of young people, but rather from the more paternalistic elements on the Left, such as certain radical feminists who insist that any woman involved in the sex industry is being degraded and exploited, whether she realizes it or not. These are the views that are being rammed down many young people’s throats, courtesy of our “enlightened” educational system.
Of course, the irony is that these people describe themselves as feminists, even though they seem to believe that the average woman is so stupid that she can be easily tricked and duped by any man she might encounter, and therefore must be “protected” from her own stupidity.
The Prohibition Party has been a progressive party and an ultra-conservative party but not usually at the same time.
The progressive agenda back in the Prohibition Party’s hayday included a lot of moral busybodying, racism and warmongering that would not be considered progressive today. The only issues that today’s progressives might have in common with the progressives of a century ago, at least in terms of direction of change, are economic ones.
Actually I was thinking of Women’s Suffrage and Child Labor Laws when I wrote the progressive part.
Well, I hope you get to the bottom of it…much like I am now at the bottom of
🙂
I am surprised by the paranoid response I received upon asking who the author was and whether he had authority to post officially as the Prohibition Party. Apparently the author’s name is Chuck something. He was afraid to reveal his name, claiming I had some kind of ulterior motive because I criticized his lack of focus on alcohol. He claimed everything he said was an official Prohibition Party statement unless it was disavowed by the national committee. He was not clear about how he received his authority. I have serious doubts about his claims. Hopefully Toby Davis will clear this up.
For a while they had it set so you could not even find it with the wayback machine. Its not searchable, so unless someone has a lot of time to look through all their archived articles one by one I have no idea how you would figure out their most commented on Prohibition Party article. Nice to know they are wayback-accessible now, though.
Paulie,
Check out the WAY BACK machine at:
https://web.archive.org
Type in “Thirdpartywatch.com” and then click on the year you want to review. From there click on the various blue dots on dates where they backed up the site.
Searching for the prohibition party articles might be a bit tricky though . . .

Dunno about TPW since it is no longer available even in archived form. IPR record to date as far as I have been able to find: https://independentpoliticalreport.com/2011/01/prohibition-party-convention-speakers-george-wallace-jr-richard-winger-steve-gordon-eunie-smith-joe-godfrey/ with 29 as of now.
That just means they updated the platform. Newer version takes precedence. Same sentiment from 2008 below. The most experience I’ve had with the Prohibition Party is bidding on their election paraphernalia on eBay while drunk. Highly recommended.
The opening paragraph does, however, come from the 2012 party platform. But the paragraph is completely absent from the 2008 platform.
These recent posts are far off message. They appear to be the comments of one party member, not official statements.
Wait… the Prohibition Party is against Pornography! Let me look shocked!
The Prohibition Party has been a progressive party and an ultra-conservative party but not usually at the same time. They are historically interesting since they are the longest lasting minor party by far but pretty much irrelevant in recent years. BTW, this has to be the most posts on any thread that pertains to the Drys ever in the history of TPW and/or IPR!
At least they have someone who knows how to use facebook. They haven’t been very web savvy up til now.
“I’m going to find out who’s behind these statements.”
Feel free, but this in no way misrepresents the Prohibition Party. You’re right that James Hedges does not use this kind of rhetoric, but Hedges was way more moderate than the rest of the party, thus why he lost the ’12 nomination to Fellure, a hard-liner.
“I always thought the Prohibitionist party was focused on alcohol as the root of all things evil”
They are, but they’re also against all other forms of legalized vice.
I think they have pretty much always been all around social reactionaries, at least from what I remember reading about them.
I might be out of the loop on this one, but I always thought the Prohibitionist party was focused on alcohol as the root of all things evil. When I was down south; the few times I heard them speak it was on the same thing: get rid of alcohol and you get rid of all of our problems. If they are going against other issues then they should just market their brand as “prohibitionist party: against all forms of personal freedom”.
That way no one would misunderstand their platform.
BTW, I am writing this while enjoying a nice cold bottle of O’fallons Hemp Hop Rye. Cheers to an early happy hour.
Prohibitionists, much like fascists and state socialists, don’t believe people should be treated as adults with rights to make choices and responsibilities for the choices they make.
Oddly, somehow some of these child-like adults magically become wise and benevolent by virtue of being elected by the other child-like adults to government, and all of a sudden should be trusted to decide correctly what’s best for everyone. How does that work exactly?
Paulie said “I think it’s actually the view that women are too weak to be able to make their own choices as to whether they want to act in porn which is demeaning to women”.
I agree with this. I’m sick of others deciding what’s demeaning to women. What seems demeaning to me is others thinking they have to tell women what’s demeaning to them. I’m so sick of this idiocy.
Women like porn for probably the same reason men. Some of us enjoy it very much, some not at all. Grown-ups are capable of tmaking their own decisions.
I’m going to find out who’s behind these statements.
The folks behind the Prohibition Party need to listen to The Rialto Report podcast.
I think it’s actually the view that women are too weak to be able to make their own choices as to whether they want to act in porn which is demeaning to women. And why are women singled out here? Straight porn has both men and women acting in it, so other than solo girl or lesbian porn scenes aren’t men being equally “demeaned and exploited” if that is what it is?
Porn demeans and exploits women? If so, what about gay porn that has no women at all in it?
BTW, if porn is not produced or sold in the US (which would be pretty hard to enforce since anyone with a webcam can go to a motel room anywhere and shoot some porn, then put in online – including on foreign web servers – and accept payment in bitcoin or other altcoins among other things, including discreet credit card billing) all that will happen is that porn consumers will download free foreign made porn off tube sites where anyone can upload or download any video they want. And if the sites can’t be hosted in the US, there are many countries that would not care.
If the regime puts in internet filters, people will figure out ways around them, as they have in foreign nations which have tried imposing them.
The technology cat’s out of the bag and the prohibitionists will be in a losing race to try to enforce any such stupid laws if they managed to pass them.
