Constitution Party releases new platform adopted at its 2016 convention

Today, the Constitution Party posted a link on its Facebook page to its 2016-2020 official platform adopted at the party’s national convention in Salt Lake City, Utah in May. Just like in previous versions, the Constitution Party’s current platform continues to place an emphasis on the strong Christian roots of the party.

The pdf file of the platform is 31 pages long. Read the full 2016-2020 Constitution Party platform here.

WOW! I found something I agree with!!!!!!!! All “crimes” that are already felonies in every state should never be “federal crimes.”

However, they have a plank about pornography? Are you kidding me? “Pornography, obscenity and sexually oriented businesses are a distortion of the true nature of sex created by God for the procreative union between one man and one woman”

Any policy based on some mumbo jumbo “scripture” has no place in a party called the CONSTITUTION party. What a joke.

Even worse: “We call on our local, state and federal governments to uphold our First Amendment right to free speech by vigorously enforcing all laws against obscenity”

What a complete contradiction. Who decides what “obscenity” is? According to these prudes watching the Olympic diving would be banned because of the enormous bulges!

Hmmm – “we also believe that government plays a vital role in protecting all citizens, particularly our most vulnerable, women and children, from exploitation.”

Sounds like the government plays a role to protect people when it conveniently fits within their narrow-minded prude social wars . . .

Their whole education section talks about how they oppose “federal control . . ” So why would the federal or any government control “obscenity?” Shouldn’t that be the job of parents??

I had to stop reading halfway . . . I started to gag

I was hoping they would de-theocratize it, but unfortunately it’s as bad as ever.

It’s too bad, because their planks on certain issues are as good or better than the LP. But once they get to social issues they go all cray cray.

Wow Tony and I have agreed on a lot.

And the world didn’t end 😉

(though as a Christian I don’t agree with his disparaging of scripture ,but I understand the underlying point of opposition to theocracy)

Yes, the CP’s platform sucks. So what? Fortunately for them, and unfortunately for the LP, the candidates are not bound by the platform.

Caryn, I often do try not to disparage religion and I did feel a bit of regret after clicking “post,” but at least my disdain is for all religions equally. Gotta get a point for that!

My favorite part about last night was the Muslim parents shooting hard at the Trumpster fire!
