Congressman Scott Rigell (R-VA) becomes the first sitting congressman to say he will vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson for President. Read the Politico article here, published today. Quote from the article:

“I’ve always said I will not vote for Donald Trump and I will not vote for Hillary Clinton,” Rigell told the New York Times. “I’m going to vote for the Libertarian candidate.”

Rigell is not running for reelection, and says that if the Republican Party moves more in the ideological direction of Donald Trump, he may become an independent.

No, he didn’t switch to McMullen. Rigell was on the Rachael Maddow show tonight and stuck with Johnson. Pretty strongly, too.

The $62,000 question is….will Rep. Rigell now switch his endorsement to McMullen?

Wait – where’s Andy telling us how terrible this is??

Hi Krzysztof, No, the Seoul Libertarian Party Meetup Group is a separate organization that uses the Meetup.com website to announce monthly meetings and communicate with members and is focused on the US. The Libertarian Party of Korea is a different organization and focused on Korean issues. However, their President frequently attends our Seoul Libertarian Party Meetup Group and I have attended the LP of Korea’s events. So we are different organizations but we encourage each other.

Excellent news. Thank you Congressman Rigell! He represents the 2nd Congressional District of Virginia which includes Norfolk and Virginia Beach. I remember when our Libertarian Party ran its first candidate for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District in 1982 and his name was Ken Morrison if I recall correctly. It is truly encouraging that Rep. Rigell has endorsed our Libertarian Party candidates for President and Vice President. And I saw that over 500 people who attended the Johnson Weld rally in Utah recently. The story ran in my hometown newspaper in Staunton, Virginia with about 25 photos! And over 37,000 people have pledged $15 to help get to 15% in the polls. At our Libertarian Party Meetup here in Seoul, Korea new members are joining and a film crew will attend our next meeting as they are filming a documentary about one of our members, Casey Lartigue, who operates a non-profit volunteer clearinghouse that teaches English to North Korean refugees. Lets keep working to achieve electoral success.

Tantalizing! The snowball is rolling, picking up speed and diameter. The L ticket is developing critical mass.

Rigell is my Congressman. I knew he didn’t like Trump, but I’m really surprised by this. Back in January I had a letter to the editor published slamming Rigell for being too much like Trump on corporate welfare type stuff. He announced he was retiring shortly after that, although I’m sure that wasn’t the reason.

The GOP and Democrats have both given the keys to their worst ever candidates. A rebellion is only natural. It will continue.

Excellent news – first state legislators, now a member of Congress defecting to vote Libertarian for Gary Johnson! Seems likely there will be more, especially if the cartel candidates continue to self-sabotage.
