Tune in on Tuesday, September 27th for a special 2-hour broadcast of Democracy Now! from 8:00 am–10:00 am ET. We’ve invited Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson to participate in a special expanded presidential debate.

Debates are great but the national presidential debates sponsored by CPD are watched by at least 70 million people (it can go to over 100 million). If the debating on Democracy Now won’t hurt Jill’s and Gary’s chances of participating in the national debates then they can do it! I just want to say the Jill Stein was participating in the last night presidential debate over twitter’s Periscope and Facebook.com/livestream ! I think it went pretty good except that at critical moments the livestream was disrupted! I don’t know if it was a deliberate tampering of livestream by Facebook team
but it did look suspicious!

I think Gary could reach more people participating in this event. Up to him though… our next President Johnson will make the best decision.
Nothing to lose at this point. They both should do it.
Johnson missed the CPD debate. His campaign failed to advertise early – c’est la vie. His polling numbers are falling. He should take this opportunity as his best chance to show he’s serious and still in it.
It can’t hurt him now. It can only help.

This is quite similar to what Democracy Now! did in 2012 with the debates, though this is a bit different. DN! aired the debate as it started, then would pause after Obamney answered each question and give the third party candidates a chance to respond. Gary Johnson was invited, but did not show.
Virgil Goode was not invited to the first one, but did get invited to the second one. However, I think DN’s viewers were quite upset about DN giving so much airtime to a xenophobe like Goode, so Goode was not invited to the third debate.

I doubt Johnson will accept, based on his declining the invitation last time. Also, I doubt many potential Libertarian voters ever watch Democracy Now. Though Johnson has many legitimate reasons to decline, I think there are more reasons to participate than not.
I agree that this seems like a great opportunity. That’s one of the reasons I posted this article–to draw attention to the invitation. Perhaps some of Gary’s “people” can help him make the decision to do it.
Both Johnson and Stein should take this debate opportunity. They should be debating against Clinton and Trump, answering essentially the same questions, following up on C and T’s responses with their own views and not waste time on each other.
