Darrell Castle garners endorsement from Glenn Beck, publicity from Deseret News

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=074nDivCk6c

Glenn Beck, who had earlier been touted as a likely Gary Johnson supporter and had usually supported Republicans in the past, now says he had considered voting for Hillary Clinton and settled on Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party. Beck is a convert to the Church of Latter Day Saints aka the Mormons, which also owns Salt Lake City daily Deseret News, and that newspaper also just published an op-ed by Castle (H/T Ballot Access News).

Johnson is not a Mormon, but his campaign manager is, and the campaign is headquartered in Utah. Johnson has been doing particularly well in the polls in that state, second only to his home state of New Mexico. Utah is a hotbed of “Never Trump” Republicans and is also the home of LDS member Evan McMullin, another third party candidate who is on the ballot in eleven states including Utah. Castle is a Protestant, and his Constitution Party has in the past experienced infighting over whether LDS is a genuine Christian church. The hardline Protestants who opposed recognizing Mormons as fellow Christians lost that fight, and the largest and most active Constitution Party affiliate today, the pre-existing Independent American Party in Nevada, is dominated by LDS members.

Darrell Castle is undoubtedly the best Third Party candidate. For those who want to register a strong protest against the current corrupt and rigged Republicrat duopoly establishment which together have busily succeeded in wrecking this country over the past 60 years with endless foreign wars, massive debts, massive Third World immigration, inflation, currency debasement, unfair trade, radical social engineering etc. Mr. Castle and the Constitution Party base their belief and platforms in the U.S. Constitution and strict construction as written about by the founding fathers. I do not agree with them on some issues BUT they are really the only sane alternative on the ballot in enough states to really count. The Libertarians are simply shills for the wealthy and big business and the Greens are far too leftist and socialist. The Constitution Party is reasonable, rational, and seeks fairness, justice and equity for all Americans. Any third party vote is a good protest and shows you reject the current Washington madhouse but the Constitution Party is in many ways like the Democrat and Republican Parties were prior to World War II: sane, centrist, moderate and for America first, last and always. I will vote for them.

Ok, so how about changing the title of your article, Mr. Brown? Because it is misleading.

Reminds me of 2008, when Ron Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin, and the IP comments sections were full of predictions that that year the Constitution Party would beat the Libertarians’ vote total.

That said, congratulations to Darrell Castle. Whatever else one can say for him, he’s been working hard, and it’s nice to see him getting some recognition. Good timing, too, with the Utah Republicans deserting Trump en masse.

Does Castle even crack 1% in Utah with Johnson and McMullin taking the majority of anti – Trump and anti-Clinton? Can he come in third there or will be near Jill Stein of the Greens?

You are correct. I thought Ballot Access News said they endorsed him, but I either misread that or they have since corrected their post. In other news Castle2016 website has been down, perhaps due to unanticipated server traffic volume.

The post says that the Deseret News endorsed Darrel Castle for President. Actually, they just published an op-ed by Darrel Castle.

He chuckled to himself when he said the name — not the greatest sign.

I wonder why he didn’t go full McMullin?

Beck heartily endorsed Austin Petersen for a good 20 minutes before insisting that he hadn’t really meant it when people noticed.

I think the Deseret News just published an op-ed written by Castle, they didn’t actually endorse him.

Utah’s an interesting state — Johnson, McMullin and Castle may collectively out-poll one of the major party candidates on Election Day.

Presumably Darrell will get a bump from this. It makes me like him less though. But w/e.

Beck already approved of Cruz, Petersen, & Johnson. Now Castle? Good grief.
