Record 31 presidential candidate on the ballot in at least one state

In the 2016 presidential election, 31 individuals are on the ballot in at least one state. This is the most in U.S. history. Of those thirty-one, thirteen are on the ballot in just one state.

The number of candidates in recent past presidential elections, who are on the ballot in at least one state, are:
