NH Representative Joseph Stallcop (Cheshire-4) announces joining the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire and NH House Libertarian Caucus with Rep. Caleb Q. Dyer
Stallcop, who is a college student, was elected as a Democrat. The Atlantic mentioned him last year in an article about young Bernie Sanders supporters. Last month he joined several other people in smoking marijuana on the grounds of the State House on 4/20. Here is a newspaper profile from when he took office.

Well, another third party candidate in the state congress is good. Though the really interesting part is that he’s a Democrat. Despite having a decent number of commonalities with both Republicans and Democrats, the Libertarian Party has long been viewed (erroneously) as only taking things away from the Republicans, which admittedly isn’t helped by the fact it’s generally Republicans switching their affiliation to Libertarian. A Democrat switching to Libertarian might help to change that perception a little.

Thanks, Paulie….
Physically remove Hoppeans.

“If you’re transgender in the state of New Hampshire, you can’t file any discrimination suit for being kicked out of an apartment or being fired from your job … it’s completely messed up,” he said.–

Eh, what? First Gary Johnson wants to force bakers to make swastika cakes for queers, and now this guy wants to make them for trannies, too? We need to do something. Hans-Hermann Hoppe for President 2020!
Thane: “Ian (I am guessing Freeman) has a great post on this.

Ian Bernard. Which may be the same guy; “Ian Freeman” sounds like a stage name.
Thank you for the lead. It’s top story on my front page today.

Andy’s right about the New Mexico Democrat who switched. He was Paul Edward Trujillo, chair of the Valencia County Board of Commissioners. He probably would have been re-elected as a Libertarian if it hadn’t been for the New Mexico straight-ticket device, which fortunately has since been eliminated.
Steve Vaillancourt, who unfortunately just passed away, was elected as a Democrat before he switched to being a Libertarian, won re-election as one in 2000, and then switched to GOP and continued to be re-elected as such. (This was also in the NH House)
No. I recall several years back an elected Democrat in New Mexico switched to Libertarian during their term. I believe they held a county office. They ran for reelection as a Libertarian and lost.
Is this the first elected Democrat to come over to the LP? I find it refreshing but kinda wonder how he could have been a Bernie supporter and still pick the LP over the Greens.
Sweet!

Don’t worry . . . .as soon as he votes for even one cent in tax increases he will be excoriated.
This is good news if he is for real, and not like that John Moore guy from Nevada.
This is great news. Thanks to IPR for the coverage.
Fantastic news!
