Email blast from the event organizers:
On Saturday, September 9th, a group of libertarian grassroots activists will be hosting The End the Fed Block Party! From 12PM to 4PM we will unite, right in front of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, to bring awareness to this hundred-year-long scam perpetrated against the American people.
Join us as we shut down the entire block, not to protest or shout, but to have fun, connect, network, and enjoy ourselves as we educate people on the issues of central banking, fiat currency, economic controls, and the solutions to these important issues of our generation. The event will include local Philly music acts, some of our city’s finest food trucks, and liberty-loving vendors including an FFL dealer, a bitcoin booth, a company that sells drones, and many more.

Supposedly, 3rd parties have been coopted since way back to the time of Ted Roosevelt. I don’t see anything changing by working within the system, especially anything that has to do with economic control.
However, I do think bridges should be made between anarchists, libertarians and those fed up or feeling isolated. Communities are dead or dying. Who’s willing to help in some way? We need more local, direct/face-to-face collaboration.
I’d like to think that this event could be one of those opportunities.
Sounds like a great event! Kudos to the Pennyslvania LP for putting it on.
I would encourage you guys not to do the State’s dirty work though (in reference to the note on the flier that “This is a permitted event. Streets MUST be cleared by 4pm”). If you feel compelled to make this point due to negative consequences being threatened by government officials if the streets are not clear by that hour, make sure to announce this at the event – tell attendees what you were told, and give out names/phone numbers/email addresses for people to complain about the authoritarian policies.
Anarchists are generally on board with ending the federal reserve. Antifascists would perhaps be divided on the issue, since there is not any unifying ideology among all antifa(scists) regarding anything other than opposition to explicit fascism. Some of us would argue to the federal reserve itself is a sort of implicit fascism, a “public-private partnership” which is private when it finds it suitable to be private and public when it finds it suitable to be public.
I hope “antifa” and “black bloc anarchist” don’t show up for the “party”.

‘My guess is that you are insinuating that by associating with “’radical’ libertarians who want to abolish the Federal Reserve System, Larry Sharpe will somehow be tainting himself…’
Appearing at an “End the Fed” event is potentially problematic. Appearing at an ‘End the Fed’ event Kokesh is gonna speak at, with his name on the schedule, is a bad idea. I see very little upside here.”
Talking about ending the Federal Reserve System worked out pretty well for Ron Paul. He was elected to the US House of Representatives, and reelected to that office multiple times, plus he made a big impact in the 2008 and 2012 Republican presidential primaries, and he sparked a big movement behind him.
Larry Sharpe being at this event will be a plus for him if anything.
Also, what’s wrong with speaking at an event where Adam Kokesh is also speaking? Adam Kokesh spoke the Libertarian National Convention in 2016, and Larry Sharpe spoke at the same convention. Did the fact that Adam Kokesh spoke at that convention somehow taint Sharpe and everyone else who spoke there?
Adam Kokesh has said that he’s seeking the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination in 2020. There are rumors that Sharpe is going to do the same. If Kokesh stays in the race, and if Sharpe ends up announcing that he is seeking the LP’s presidential nomination in 2020, I imagine that they will both end up speaking at a lot of the same events.
“You say such outlandishly ridiculous crap incessantly that sarcasm would be difficult to detect.”
I thought he was serious too.
Paulie, that was classic!!! You made me laugh out loud. You get an award . . . . . when I think of one, I’ll let you know!
Andy
You say such outlandishly ridiculous crap incessantly that sarcasm would be difficult to detect. I love sarcastic humor, but not about assassination. It does, though, show your continued obsession with firearms.
Some of the posters here are obviously pretty stupid. Larry Sharpe is not a well known person outside of Libertarian Party circles, and although I’d call him a rising star in the Libertarian Party, he’s got close to zero chance of being elected Governor of New York, or to any other high level government office, and he is nowhere close to being a legitimate threat to the state. It should be pretty obvious to anyone who is not a moron that I was being sarcastic above.

Assassination attempt? What kind of stupidity is that? His meaning was obvious. Why do you continuously say ridiculous crap?”
I was being sarcastic. This obviously went above your level of intellect.
Will Dr. Sabrin campaign manager from his gubernatorial campaign be there?
I remember listening to a speech of Dr Sabrin’s during his 2008 campaign for Senate. He’s pretty good.
“Are you fearing that he will be singled out for an assassination attempt?”
Andy, I’m only going to tell you this once: As a moderate, I’m partially plugged into the state you and Kokesh aim to take down. I hear things. You know too much. 9/11, Sandy Hooker, Burfer, Flat Earth, the reptilians, the Rothschilds and Bilderbergs…you’re the only man dangerous enough to take the whole thing down! Watch your back!! I’ve seen what a paintball blast can do to a buttocks!!!

Why should Sharpe “be careful” as compared to anyone else in attendance at this event? Are you fearing that he will be singled out for an assassination attempt?
My guess is that you are insinuating that by associating with “radical” libertarians who want to abolish the Federal Reserve System, Larry Sharpe will somehow be tainting himself, therefore making himself a less acceptable candidate for the “respectability” caucus in the Libertarian Party. Is this correct?
Ending the Federal Reserve System (and more specifically, government forced fiat currency) has long been a standard Libertarian position, and this issue should be pushed more than it is by Libertarians, if anything, in my opinion. We can debate what is the best way to go about ending the Federal Reserve System, but regardless of this, I consider ending the Federal Reserve System to be one of the top four political issues.
I applaud Libertarians in Pennsylvania for putting on this event and I’d love to attend, but I probably will not make it. Libertarians should be putting on events like this all over the country.
Be Careful, Mr. Sharpe.
