You’re right; those diehard neoconservative GOP politicians that miss the more nation-building presidents of the past and pay only lip service about Trump in public -are also in on it too.
That the committed is Republican-chaired/Republican-majority doesn’t mean that the Democrats aren’t behind this particular demand. Sometimes a majority, or a portion of a majority, of a committee will give the minority something it wants — in trade for something else, or because the majority or portion of the majority perceive it as benefiting their agenda too.
In this case, several factors could be at work, among them:
1) The Republicans see going after Stein as a way to strike a blow at “the left;” and/or
2) There are enough “Never Trump” Republicans on the committee to constitute a majority when they vote with the Democrats; and/or
3) There’s someone else the Republicans want to subpoena, and cooperating with the Democrats on Stein gives them cover to do so; and/or
4) One or more Republicans owe favors to one or more Democrats and this seems like a minor one to them; or
Err, this is a Republican-chaired Republican-majority committee, as are all Congressional Committees other than ethics.

Basically the Democrats are desperate to hide the fact that HRC was a crappy candidate for the voters and it cost them the 2016 presidential election, which is what this ‘”Russian meddling” in our elections’ hipe is really all about.
And now they’re going after minor party candidates that robbed HRC of many votes to try to keep that hipe going and make their egos feel better.

FYI, the Intercept has a headline indicating that the campaign will cooperate with the committee’s idiotic agenda.
That’s what the reply above assumed. It seems a little more artful than “shove your subpoena up your ass, fuckstick.”
You think they wouldn’t get a subpoena?
