Vermin Supreme: Bernie Endorses Biden, Vermin Supreme Campaign Responds

2020 Libertarian Party presidential candidate Vermin Supreme sent out the following press release this morning.

The Future is Love

Good morning!  Today let’s address what’s happening in our world and our path towards the future.

Twenty-four hours ago, Senator Bernie Sanders endorsed Joe Biden for President of the United States.  For many of his supporters, this evokes mixed emotions; shock, dismay, and betrayal among them.

While we may not agree with all of Senator Sanders’ ideas, we certainly believe in the energy and legitimacy of his movement.  These people are passionate about making positive change in their communities and in America, and this is something we as Libertarians absolutely believe in too.  We share their disillusionment with business as usual, and are also disappointment by Sanders’ no-concessions-asked endorsement of an establishment candidate of the duopoly.  We are left with two corporate party candidates who have – for years – manipulated people for personal gain, instituted harmful policy and practices against minorities, and exhibited inappropriate behavior towards women.

Right now people are suffering and, as always, the marginalized communities are bearing the brunt of a global pandemic.  All of our daily lives have been rocked to their foundations.  People are stuck in their homes, have lost their jobs, and are faced with a death toll that rises every day. Homeless populations, communities of color, and poor populations without health insurance have been hit the hardest in this pandemic.  These are the three communities who are experiencing the highest death rates – many American communities are being devastated.

We are afraid and hurting, however; in times of the greatest difficulties we rise together in a triumph of the human spirit.  An opportunity has arisen from this crisis.  Now we have a chance to show the world that compassion, love, and mutual aid are the golden standard for humanity and survival.

Candidate Supreme has this message to our friends from the Democrat Party:

“I am sorry to hear that Bernie Sanders has endorsed Joe Biden.
I can imagine this must be a great disappointment to many.
It is my hope that you remain hopeful and continue to work for change.
I hope that you continue to question why things are the way they are and how they can be different.
You may be looking for a new political home.
Let me invite you to take a look at the Libertarian Party.
Read the platform at lp.org/platform.
You may be surprised with how much of it you may have agreement.
As for items with which may be points of disagreement I recommend reaching out to a libertarian to hear a libertarian perspective and possible solutions to societies shortcomings.
In any case I welcome the discussion.
I hope you will join us as we challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual. Our goal is nothing more nor less than a world set free in our lifetime,
You are always welcome into my campaign.”– Vermin Love SupremeIf you would like to take a pony ride with #TeamSupreme, please reach out!!!

Our entire society has been disrupted.
Let’s not let it go back to the way it was.
Let’s not let ourselves go back to the way we were.
Let’s heal. Let’s work together. Let’s look to the future.
Let’s make a better world now together.
We don’t have to go back to the old world.
Disruption leads to innovation and change.
Innovate now. Change Now. Disrupt Now.
Let us no longer carry the things that don’t serve us,
while we have this unprecedented moment in time.

This is actually a really good news release. I still can’t get past the boot but good for him!

Would you even know who he was if he didn’t wear the boot?

Bernie Sanders went out of his way to attack The Libertarian Party over the last 4 years. Before he decided to go after Hispanic voters, Bernie denounced “open borders” as a “Koch brothers” idea from the Libertarian Platform.

Hopefully some who voted for him will take a look at The Libertarian Party and see that we are antiwar, defenders of civil liberties and opponents of marijuana prohibition. But those who take their lead from Bernie Sanders might be hostile to us – more hostile to antiwar Libertarians than to the warmonger that Bernie just endorsed.

    What a disgrace and embarrassment to the LP . . . .

Every party has “fringe candidates.” The thing is that they don’t acknowledge them. The LP doesn’t care what the optics are of some (well-intentioned) clown wearing a boot on his head seeking their POTUS nomination.

    Agreed.

I still can’t get past the boot

That’s unfortunate. It’s satire and has a point: the boots and official hats and headware that signify government authority. It’s to draw attention to how absurd they all are. Plus, it’s why a lot of people know who he is in the first place. He can’t reach them with a serious message, which he does have, if they are not paying attention to begin with.

Yeah, obviously you can’t get them all. That’s true of whatever outside group you try to appeal to. The advantage Sanders supporters have over other groups is that many are 1) young and 2) very open to radical change. Not all of them are necessarily stuck on the exact type of radical change Sanders promotes, if the type of change someone is trying to convince them of can be communicated as creating the door to a more just and equitable society.

Hmm . . . I wonder why my original post disappeared

It appears to still be there unless you had another one. Otherwise same comment issues as we have had since January. They are not new to you by now.
