Laura Ebke writes to the LNC:
Madame Chair and Colleagues,
Although my term would come to a close shortly, anyway, please consider this my immediate resignation.
I am embarrassed. Watching the livestream has been bad enough. Watching a former Congressman giving the keynote address while 6 people wander around behind him is an embarrassment. That video would be unusable for any kind of future promotions.
Matthew Bughman writes to the LNC:
Members of the LNC,
Thank you Mrs. Ebke for your service. Mrs. Ebke captures the sentiments I felt while watching the only ever sitting Libertarian Congressman deliver his address.
While my term will expire in a matter of hours I too tender my resignation effective immediately.
Regards,
Matthew Bughman
It was bad. It was really bad. Distracting and disrespectful.
“Former Congressman.” LOL. Shiney badge! “Future promotions.” LMAO. You people act like Amash is some kind of historic figure. He isn’t. He’s an opportunist and his opportunity is over.
The real embarrassing thing here is that he was ever accepted into your party and made your keynote speaker to begin with. This traitor voted to impeach the most libertarian President in at least a century, and perhaps ever, over deep state lies. He was an embarrassment to the Republican Party and now he’s an embarrassment to the Libertarians. Ron Paul and Tom Woods are right there, and this is who you chose to speak instead? Shame on you.
Wow, that is really sad to hear.
Holy cow, I just watched the video.
Skip to the 5:45 mark to see Amash speak. That was pathetic.
Mises Caucus wins = LP goes away; their funding is already dwindling, it’ll dry up to nothing. I left in 2020 after the joke that was the last convention; and the two years prior to that of LNC in-fighting. Never going back… never giving money again, and never voting Libertarian again; I’m just done.
A new libertarian-ish party will form to replace it with safe guards in the by-laws and platform to make sure this shit doesn’t happen.
Good riddance.
The pink-haired weirdo with the spiked hat is the most embarrassing and cringey thing about it.
> The pink-haired weirdo with the spiked hat is the most embarrassing and cringey thing about it.
That could be either by Carol Ann Carlos or Starchild.
It seems ridiculous to me to resign when your term is about to expire in hours anyway.
Andy, did you win election to anything or is that later?
The pink-haired harridan in the Lady Liberty hat is Caryn Ann Harlos. The homeless-looking tie dye man with the fanny pack is Mike Seebeck. Harlos is Team Mises. Seebeck is Team Harlos.
I ran for Region Alternate and lost, but I lost to another Mises Caucus guy in a two way race. I had originally thought I was going to be endorsed by the Mises Caucus, but Michael Heise never got the memo that I was running, so he got somebody else to run, and he did not want to tell that other person to drop out of the race.
I did have some people come up to me afterwards and say that they thought I was a better candidate, including some who voted for the other guy.
That’s too bad Andy. I would have voted for you if I was there. Hispanic representation is important.
Did anyone see pictures of Ron Paul speaking to the Reno delegates? Saw no one up front moving around him, or chit chatting or shuffling papers. Should give speakers respect , and remain seated and at attention. Just common courtesy.

“… and b) I could have and should have gotten votes for At Large from the entire Mises Caucus, but I did not because when Heise compiled a list of 5 candidates to vote for for At Large, he did NOT KNOW that I was running, as by the time he found out that I was running, he had already sent out a group text message to everyone on the Mises Caucus list for the 5 candidates to vote for in the At Large race, and he said he would have taken somebody off and put me in if he had known that I was running, but he said that by that point it was too late, because it would have looked bad to change it. ”
Ah, unrequited love and loyalty…
That sort of unrequited love and loyalty is pretty typical for knuckle-dragging authoritarian movements. Support dear leader and hope for scraps. Big Ted Cruz “please insult my wife more” vibes.
You don’t like Amash because he impeached Trump? The most Libertarian present ever? AHAHAHAHAHAHA thats the plan folks , stand down when Trump runs again ! bootlickers , the whole lot of ya 🙂
Amash voted to impeach Grover Cleveland? Who knew?
There is nothing libertarian about white nationalism.
Nationalism is merely another specifies of socialism. The so-called Mises Caucus is a blight on the name of Ludwig von Mises. I’m a shame to see trash like these taking over another political party.
So actual libertarians have taken over the party from former RINOs?
“Actual libertarians” vs “former RINOs”
Thank you Trump Liberty. Now we get the truth of the matter. The quiet part out loud
Who is surprised that the LP convention was Bush League? This is the party that wanted so bad to be take seriously but had a fat guy stripping on stage to a national audience.
Those two rage-quit because the tellers, including me, were doing our job where the COC set up to do it, and there wasn’t time to straighten it out.
I did that later in the evening after adjournment, while Dr. Paul was speaking in the next room.
Haters gonna hate, but without the tellers, the convention was a mess.
Get your facts straight.
Amash is a worthless dweeb and an embarrassment who voted to impeach the most libertarian President since at least Calvin Coolidge if not Andrew Jackson. Thank you for disrespecting him. Too mildly, if anything.
So actual libertarians have taken over the party from former RINOs?
Yes, and they are off to an excellent start by condemning the Soviet Poverty Lie Center as irrational and repugnant as their very first order of business. Bravo!
This LNC has been excellent so far.
Andrew “ethnic cleansing” Jackson is who you would consider to be the most libertarian president. And you mean that as a positive?
Interesting.
Not Important,
How is Ron Paul not a former RINO? On what issues do he and Justin Amash disagree that makes Paul a libertarian legend and Amash an embarrassing, worthless dweeb? Oh, that’s right.
Standing with Trump. Because paleos favor Right unity over bottom unity. Nationalists, border hawks, protectionists, and reactionary populists mustn’t be criticized within an earshot of a Democrat.
What Jared said. Justin Amash is a historic figure, the first Libertarian in Congress and the main author of the first tri-partisan legislation (the End Qualified Immunity Act), and a hero of our movement.
However I don’t think Mises Caucus members are necessarily Trump supporters, or believers in nationalism (of any ethnic persuasion or none), protectionism, conservatism, etc. We should treat people as individuals.
I plan to continue supporting libertarianism and a world set free in our lifetimes, and being active in the Libertarian Party toward that end, opposing nationalism, protectionism, conservatism, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and other ideas or public figures at odds with freedom. I welcome working with those who are similarly committed to freedom, regardless of whether they are Mises Caucus affiliated or not.
I think the tellers could have been doing their vote-counting work without moving about right behind Amash during his speech, but absent any evidence this was a deliberate attempt to undermine him, the furor over it seems way overblown. It appears to have been a simple lapse in discretion by some folks trying to get convention business done.
I do not think the vote counting behind Justin Amash while he was speaking was done maliciously, but it did look bad on camera, and the LNC ought to take steps to make sure nothing like that ever happens again.
