Members of the Libertarian Party of West Virginia have again chosen Erika Kolenich as their gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election. This selection marks her second campaign for statewide office.
According to local media reports, Erika Kolenich’s candidacy for the Libertarian Party of West Virginia was announced by the party in a press release last Friday. Notably, she is recognized as the highest vote-getting Libertarian in West Virginia’s history.
Kolenich previously ran as the Libertarian Party of West Virginia’s gubernatorial nominee in the 2020 election cycle. At the time, she faced off against three ballot-qualified candidates and several write-in candidates, including one candidate who previously was a former legislature member. Kolenich would place third with 22,527 votes or 2.9% of the total vote.
Beyond her previous campaign, Kolenich is an attorney practicing in Upshur County, West Virginia. Readers of Independent Political Report can find more information about Kolenich on her official campaign site.
