Trisha Butler Named Chair of Association of State Liberty Parties

The Association of State Liberty Parties announced that it has selected Trisha Butler as the new organization chair, according to a post made on its official website late last month.

“The ALSP is pleased to announce the appointment of a new chair to serve on a permanent basis. Former Clarksville, TN City Councillor Trisha Butler was appointed today at a meeting of the Executive Committee to replace Interim Chair Connor Voskuil,” the party announced in late December 2023.

Trisha Butler was formerly an active member of the Libertarian Party of Tennessee and its Montgomery County affiliate, where she held various leadership positions. She also served as an elected official, having been elected to Tennessee’s Clarksville City Council from its 12th Ward in 2020. However, she resigned from her position in 2023 to spend more time with her family.

The Association of State Liberty Parties, which was initially announced in early December 2022, has state affiliates in New Mexico, Massachusetts, and Virginia. These affiliates consist of former state affiliate members of the Libertarian National Committee and one newer organization, namely, the Libertarian Party of New Mexico, the Libertarian Association of Massachusetts, and the Classical Liberty Party of Virginia.

Connor Voskuil, who preceded Butler, served as the first Chair of the Association of State Liberty Parties from 2022 until the news of Butler’s appointment.
