The Socialist Equality Party announced its 2024 presidential ticket on Tuesday afternoon, selecting Joseph Kishore as its presidential nominee and Jerry White as its vice-presidential nominee. Both candidates have previously run as presidential nominees for the party.
The announcement was made on X by David North, Chair of the United States section of the Socialist Equality Party, as well as on the World Socialist Web Site, the official publication of the International Committee of the Fourth International and its affiliated sections in the global organization of Socialist Equality Parties.
According to the release, Joseph Kishore has been involved with the organization’s broader movement since 1999 and has served as the Socialist Equality Party’s national secretary for nearly 16 years. He was also the party’s presidential nominee in 2020. Meanwhile, Jerry White, another long-time party member, currently serves as the labor editor of the World Socialist Web Site. He was the party’s presidential nominee in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
As of this article, the ticket has not yet released a formal campaign platform on its website. However, North stated in his announcement that the goal of the party fielding a presidential ticket is to raise the political consciousness of the working class, underscore the importance of abolishing capitalism in favor of socialism, and mobilize Americans to unite with the international working class.
“The Socialist Equality Party will advance a program that calls for the end of the corporate-financial dictatorship, the establishment of democratically controlled public ownership over the financial-corporate conglomerates, and the dissolution of the vast military-industrial complex,” North added.
Additionally, as members of the Socialist Equality Party, both candidates are expected to politically adhere to the Statement of Principles, which can be accessed on the World Socialist Web Site.
