PSL Ticket of Claudia De La Cruz and Karina Garcia Discuss Campaign, Motherhood, and Key Issues in Roundtable

The Party for Socialism and Liberation presidential ticket of Claudia De La Cruz and Karina Garcia participated in a party-hosted roundtable discussion this month, where they discussed their campaign, the challenges of being mothers under a capitalist system, and their views on a number of policy issues.

The roundtable, which has since been featured in Liberation, the official publication of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, was moderated by campaign volunteer and party organizer Caro Yao.

“Claudia De La Cruz and Karina Garcia, the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates for the Party for Socialism and Liberation, are both working-class mothers. Their lives have been shaped by the huge hurdles this system places in front of mothers, and informs their commitment to fighting for justice on all fronts,” an introduction to the roundtable reads.

In the discussion, Yao covers a variety of topics with De La Cruz and Garcia, including motherhood under a capitalist society, fighting against the patriarchy, and their respective journeys toward becoming socialists and the key figures who most influenced them. In addition, the candidates share their views on the inadequacies of the current healthcare system, the impact of economic inequality on families, and the importance of collective action as a means of achieving systemic change, among other topics.
