The Iowa Justice for All Party will host a virtual nominating convention later this month to be eligible to place a presidential ticket on the state ballot. Delegates are expected to endorse the independent ticket of Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Melina Abdullah.
According to information provided through the West campaign, the nominating convention will take place virtually over Zoom. It will begin on August 17 at 3:00 PM CST and is expected to conclude that same afternoon. The primary purpose of the convention is to secure a spot on the state ballot for the independent ticket of West and Abdullah. It’s not stated if any other organizational business will occur during the afternoon.

It affords you the opportunity to decide who represents you, your values, and your community at all levels of government – local, state, and federal,” the website states. “Attend the first-ever IOWA JUSTICE FOR ALL PARTY convention nominating Drs. Cornel West and Melina Abdullah as Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.”
For the Iowa Justice for All Party to succeed in garnering the campaign ballot access, organizers need 500 registered Iowa voters to attend the convention to comply with state laws governing non-party political organizations.

Is anyone else even vying for nomination? Given that the Justice for All Party was founded with the sole purpose of securing ballot access for West in states where requirements for independents are stricter than for unrecognized parties, just like Kennedy’s We the People Party, it would be very strange indeed – and quite funny – if they suddenly endorsed someone else.
