Libertarian National Committee Voting on Convention Oversight Chair Appointment

The Libertarian National Committee is voting on appointing Region 6 Representative Pat Ford as chair of the Libertarian Party’s Convention Oversight Committee. The committee is also voting separately to fill two vacancies on the committee.

A motion to appoint Ford as chair was added to the Libertarian National Committee’s motions and ballot tracker on Wednesday. According to the tracker, Chair Steven Nekhaila sponsored the motion, with no other listed co-sponsors. No additional details have been provided on the National Committee’s public Business List.

Ford is the current interim chair of the Convention Oversight Committee, which manages arrangements for the Libertarian Party’s national conventions. He also serves as the Region 6 Representative on the Libertarian National Committee, having been elected to the role in 2024 after previously representing the now-defunct Region 8.

As of publication, five National Committee members have voted in favor of Ford’s appointment, while two have voted against it. The remaining members have not yet voted. Voting on the motion will remain open until next Wednesday.

The Libertarian National Committee is also voting to fill two vacancies on the Convention Oversight Committee, with a ballot underway since the beginning of this week. Members are selecting between Trendalyn Hallesy, Kyle Davis, and Justin Carman. According to the Libertarian Party website, the current Convention Oversight Committee consists of Pat Ford, Adam Haman, Greg Hertzsch, Jonathan McGee, and Andrew Watkins.

Holding the national convention in a smaller market is a good decision by the LP. Much easier to attract media coverage in Grand Rapids than it is in Washington, Orlando, or New York.

Supply problems? Do you mean just simple office supplies (index cards, copy paper), or something else?

The unanswered question is how the COC will coordinate with the Credentials Committee, the Secretary, and the Head Teller to avoid the supply problems that occurred last convention.
