Libertarian Party Organizers Seek Tellers for 2026 National Convention

Organizers of the Libertarian Party’s 2026 national convention are seeking volunteers to serve as members of the teller team responsible for overseeing vote counting and ballot tabulation during the event.

Paul Darr, vice chair of the Libertarian National Committee, shared a message on the public Business List this week on behalf of head teller Mike Seebeck, who is recruiting volunteers to assist with convention operations. The 2026 Libertarian National Convention will take place May 21–25 at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids.

In his message, Seebeck said the team is responsible for a range of procedural and administrative functions, including tallying delegation vote totals, counting floor votes, and handling various motion and nomination documents. Tellers also assist with distributing and collecting delegation packets and managing the setup and teardown of the “tellers’ pit” on the convention floor.

Seebeck said the role is intended to ensure that convention business is conducted efficiently and accurately, with a specific focus on maintaining clear and verifiable vote counts.

According to Seebeck, who has served as head teller for the last four national conventions, the teller team typically consists of about 14 to 16 volunteers. He added that processes have been refined over the past several events, which he expects to continue next month.

“At the last convention we took our efficiency to new levels while records were set for voting rounds,” Seebeck said. “We don’t expect Grand Rapids to be that intense, but we’ll be prepared for it.”

Interested members are asked to contact Seebeck directly. Volunteers are expected to provide their own laptops, and training is scheduled in advance of the event. He added that serving as a convention delegate is not required, though it is recommended.
