The Communist Party USA’s Jewish Committee released a recent statement condemning the Israeli government for its ongoing military campaign in Gaza. The committee urges Jewish solidarity with Palestinians and calls for international action, including sanctions and the criminal prosecution of Israeli leadership.
The statement, issued this past Friday, accuses the Israeli government of intentionally pursuing policies aimed at the depopulation of Gaza and starving civilians, referencing what it describes as the “criminal, fascist, imperialist Netanyahu regime.” It also claims Israeli officials are promoting genocidal rhetoric and says they have been “emboldened” by the support of U.S. President Donald Trump. The committee calls on international institutions to intervene before further loss of life occurs.
“We refuse to be silent on this matter, and we do not acquiesce to being used as shields for anti-Arab pogroms,” the committee wrote. “We are determined to speak out against the cynical deployment of ‘protecting Jews,’ a craven ruse being used to trample on civil liberties here in the U.S., and to violate Palestinian sovereignty and commit genocide in Palestine.”
The committee warns in its statement that action must happen now to save the people of Gaza “from total annihilation.” It urges progressive U.S. lawmakers to push for an immediate and unconditional end to all military aid to Israel. It also calls on the International Criminal Court to arrest and prosecute key Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The committee also expresses support for both members of the Israeli public and military who have spoken out against the war, as well as for Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who it alleges was nearly targeted by an Israeli drone while attempting to join a humanitarian mission to Gaza. It further calls on Jewish communities across the country to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and reject the “violent ethno-nationalism of Zionism.”
“‘Never Again’ is now,” the committee added. “And history will remember who stayed silent.”
The Jewish Committee was established in 2024 following the Communist Party USA’s 32nd National Convention, where members of the Jewish Collective proposed the creation of a national body that would develop plans of action pertaining to the Jewish community, address issues of antisemitism and Jewish identity within Marxism, and promote solidarity with all oppressed peoples, including Palestinians.
