The Libertarian Party of Wyoming has called for the dissolution of the Libertarian National Committee in recent remarks on social media. The party said its members unanimously adopted this stance during a previously-held convention.
Independent Political Report was made aware of the remarks on Wednesday, June 4, which were shared in a Facebook group for discussion related to LNC business the night before. In them, the party referenced past LNC conflicts with the New Mexico affiliate over bylaws, the Michigan party over itt leadership, and Oklahoma for the delegates it selected to attend the 2024 Libertarian National Convention.
The party also compared those incidents to what it described as inaction in New Hampshire, where it claimed the LNC has failed to respond, despite the affiliate sharing inflammatory content online, including a post allegedly depicting a noose over a transgender pride flag and another endorsing a candidate outside the Libertarian Party over Chase Oliver. The latter is most likely a reference to the party backing Donald Trump on the day of the 2024 general election.
“The LNC has violated its fiduciary duty, violated the bylaws, and have violated the Libertarian Party,” the party’s statement read. “Dissolve the LNC!”
When asked by another commentator about the use of the Wyoming affiliate’s official Facebook account to make the statement, the state party doubled down, stating that the remarks reflect its official position. “[T]his is the official stance of the Wyoming Libertarian party. Unanimous at convention,” the party responded. “We will not back down. The right is repulsive. We reject them[.]”
Independent Political Report was unable to confirm which convention the party adopted its stance at or how that language was specifically framed. IPR has reached out to the Wyoming affiliate for further details.
