The Conservative Party of New York State will formally honor Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik at a summer dinner event later this month. The party is awarding her its Michael R. Long Award.
The state party is hosting its Welcome to Summer Dinner on Wednesday, June 18, at the Union League Club in New York City. General reception for the event will begin at 6:00 p.m. local time. Individuals planning to attend are asked to respond by June 11. Registration details, including specific ticket prices, are available on the party’s website.
According to event details by Chair Gerard Kassar, expected guests include elected officials and party leaders, conservative activists, several members of the party’s congressional delegation, and individuals affiliated with the Trump administration. Kassar did not specify names. The party is also honoring Stefanik with the Michael R. Long Award, which it established in 2023 to recognize individuals who have served the conservative movement with distinction over an extended period. Stefanik is the current chair of the House Republican Conference and has represented New York’s 21st Congressional District since 2014.
The award is named after Michael R. Long, the party’s longest-serving chair, who passed away in 2022. Long led the party from 1988 to early 2019, when he stepped down. Before becoming chair, he previously served one term on the New York City Council as an at-large member representing Brooklyn.
“Elise was a great friend of Mike and the Long Family,” Kassar wrote when it was first announced. “I am very excited that she has accepted this honor.”
Previous recipients of the award include Shaun Marie Levine in 2023 and Howard Lim Jr. in 2024. Both are longtime members of the Conservative Party and have held leadership roles within the organization.
