A member of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania expressed regret over supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, writing that he now feels “completely swindled” by the president’s record in office.
The remarks were made in a November 8 letter published by USA Today as part of its new Forums series. In the letter, Morgen Mogus, who identified himself as a Libertarian who supported Trump in 2024, said the president “fell completely flat on his face” when it came to delivering on promises made to libertarians during the campaign cycle.
Mogus said he originally voted for Trump because the then-Republican nominee “made efforts to listen and address our concerns,” including promising to reduce federal spending through Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. He credited Trump for pardoning Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht but criticized his administration for supporting the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which Mogus described as “one of the largest spending packages in recent U.S. history.”
“The only thing Trump did do was pardon Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, which I am very grateful for,” Mogus wrote. “But he has fallen completely flat on his face on all of his other promises. Now he is going after libertarians like Rep. Thomas Massie and Sen. Rand Paul. A complete betrayal.”
Publicly available information shows that Mogus is the chair of the Libertarian Party of Butler County, Pennsylvania, a position he was elected to in February. He also ran as a Libertarian candidate for director of the Karns City School District in the 2025 general election and served as a delegate from Pennsylvania to the 2024 Libertarian National Convention.
Given what he knows now, Mogus added that he still would not have voted for 2024 Libertarian presidential nominee Chase Oliver, who won the party’s nomination after several rounds of voting, calling him “way too left-wing and alienating to a lot of libertarians.” He wrote that, if given the chance again, he would have sat out the 2024 race but plans to participate in the 2026 midterm and 2028 general elections by supporting Libertarian or libertarian-aligned candidates.

A sucker born every minute, as well as the Mises Mice angles pointed out by others.
Becoming a Libertarian, as opposed to being a Republican who supports legal weed is key to understanding why its important to NOT support Republican candidates. Real Libertarians said this was a mistake all along.
Unfortunately Mises members were intentionally insulated from long-time Libertarians so they never learned anything.
To quote the legendary Bugs Bunny: “What a maroon”.
Morgus is a known Mises operative. He worked to hand the LP over to MAGA and destroy all of the LPPA’s success. The fact that they chose to run him for public office shows that the party is irredeemable.
“Libertarian”? klow ?
“Too left wing”
The maga chodes who took over the party are too Reich-wing
FAFO! The party is done
