Jim Leuenberger filed papers to run as the candidate of the Constitution Party of Oregon for Attorney General. Mr. Leuenberger is an attorney who has represented many far-right characters and also taken part in several civil liberties cases in Oregon. He was a Ron Paul-activist who also waged an unsuccessful campaign for Oregon Supreme Court recently. Facing only a Democratic incumbent, Mr. Leuenberger is sure to fetch double-digits in this forgotten race. You may find his campaign site here.

What exactly makes Leuenberger a Ron Paul activist? Did he work directly for the campaign in a staff capacity? Was he a local volunteer, did he run a meet up? or was he just someone who voted for Paul in the primary (which he did not since he wasn’t eligible to vote in the republican primary)? There seems to be quite a few people (Carey Campbell and the independent greens of virginia for example) who claim to be Paul activists but are in truth just trying to trade on Paul’s name recogintion and fund-raising prowess. I’m not saying Leuenberger is one of these people because frankly I don’t know! For all I know he could have been the campaigns state chair. If you have any further info on his involvement with Paul’s campaign i’d love to find out what roll he played especially since we know he didn’t vote for him because the Oregon Republican primary was a mail only primary closed to registered Republicans.
While I can’t say for sure the facts seem to point to Leuenberger being a Ron Paul phony.
Eternaverse,
Leuenberger was a register Libertarian for quite a while, and was a Ron Paul activist.
Leuenberger sounds like a fascist. I’d rather vote for a Dem them him even though I’m a libertarian.
