Ross Perot Donates to Kay Bailey Hutchison

The Texas Tribune recently compiled data on big-money donors to US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, who recently lost a bitter primary with incumbent Republican Governor Rick Perry. Texas does not have individual contribution limits, so one person can make a big difference on any given campaign. The Tribune highlighted the following donation from their data:

Also notable are those whose names haven’t appeared on either Perry’s or White’s donor list so far — those, including Ross Perot Sr., among others, — who gave Hutchison at least $100,000 each but have yet to commit in the general election.

Of course, Ross Perot is the man who ran for President twice- first as an independent in 1992 and second as the Reform Party candidate in 1996. His first run garnered 19% of the vote; the second 8%. Both are considered two of the strongest runs in US history for a minor party or independent candidate, despite the fact that he never earned any votes in the Electoral College.

The article’s main focus is on which donors will migrate into Republican Rick Perry or Democrat Bill White’s campaign coffers. You can see more donations and analysis here.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone familiar with Texas politics. Perot and Hutchison are both considered ‘power figures’ in DFW, and are likely close friends. If I recall correctly, they even live in the same neighborhood.

Very, very disappointing. Then again, Perot is over 80 years old. It’s possible he isn’t totally in touch with the real world anymore and may not even be managing his estate.

Mister Hill, the Poster Boy *sarcasm* of free speech!

Meaning of course, free to hear what he wants to hear!

His irritating response, possibly the frustration of having to be a Libertarian when he would rather be a Louisiana CP type?

To Hill: Like I have told you time and time again, prove my commentary wrong!
