Roanoke, Virginia (October 27, 2010) Independent candidate Jeff Vanke running under the banner of the Modern Whig Party was featured in a CNN story today entitled, “Sick of Dems, GOP? There’s hope” about the growing trend towards independent candidacies across the country.
What started as an uphill battle for Vanke is beginning to bear fruit as it gets closer to election day. Vanke , is a first time national office seeker in Virginia’s 6th Congressional district running along the I-81 corridor, from Roanoke to Harrisonburg.
CNN said, “Jeff Vanke is … running a competitive campaign against Republican incumbent Bob Goodlatte. (There is no Democrat in the race.) Vanke … has a detailed balanced budget proposal as the centerpiece of his campaign and pledges to keep at least 50 percent of his net worth in federal bonds “in order to get more of American debt out of Chinese, Middle Eastern, and other foreign hands and back into our own country.”
“One of the most interesting stories of independ“One of the most interesting stories of independence this year comes from the Modern Whig Party” according to CNN, “a surprising reinvention of the political party to which Henry Clay and Abraham Lincoln once belonged. We are in the grass-roots stage, but over time, when people think Whig, we want them to think of non-fringe, pragmatic
moderate solutions,” said Andrew Evans, one of the founders and leaders of the party. “We wanted that connection to history,” he said, “but we have modern principles — our members tend to be socially liberal but fiscally conservative.”
The Modern Whig Party has 50,000 members in all 50 states, and it is running a handful of candidates for both Congress and statewide office this year.

Every week brings in more money and more volunteers, both local and far-flung. The task now is to get that momentum far enough advanced to do the job on Election Day. District wide phone calls will begin soon and Jeff and the Whigs will need your help to volunteer time to make these calls, regardless of where you live, volunteer at www.jeffvanke.com or contact Andy Trinidad at [email protected]

Thanks for the improvement research, Paulie.
Judging by the music of the band the Cro Mags, I should be using the word Neanderthal Attractor. Cro Mag-non is too much of a compliment to the egotists who love single winner districts.

I’m actually good friends with a long time Whig Party member Bob Berry [Whig] of Alameda County, California. He’s an engineer with Cal Trans, and helps implement bicycle lanes around the state.
I’ve tried time and time to get some cooperation, but he and the Whig Party seem to have no interest in teamwork.
What I’m talking about is a simple nomination, self-nomination or the casting of a vote (ranked ballots only).
In sum, there’s too many single winner district Cro Mag-nons, and too few team players. When you’re ready to evolve, give me a call!
I’m looking for team players, and Battle of the Bulge is about 150,000 years in the future at current pace. Meanwhile, we’re being decimated on Normandy Beach.
