Barr says he would refuse public financing

Posted at Bob Barr blog

Bob recently talked with the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii about the campaign. He gave an overview of why he left the GOP and explained that he has enjoyed working with the Libertarian Party and is proud to be the party’s nominee.

He was also asked if he would accept public financing. Bob said that he would refuse it if offered and explained that people should not be forced to support a party with their tax dollars.

Anti-Corporate- Paying taxes aren’t optional (at least the government doesn’t think so) so by a candidate taking public financing (taxes) tax payers are being forced to support that candidate.

Contributions to public financing are optional, right? So what is Barr alluding to in saying that, “people should not be forced to support a party with their tax dollars?”

    You can’t qualify, post-nomination, as a third-party candidate.
