By way of Thomas Sipos at Libertarian Peacenik
2008 Libertarian Party VP candidate, Libertarian National Committee member and possible candidate for the 2012 Libertarian Presidential nomination Wayne Root selling Custom Choice Cereal. At 2:44 in the video, Wayne says he “works for food.”

It seems perfectly reasonable for a L to support RP as a statement, possibly an outside (very) to get the nomination. What seems UNreasonable is tearing down Ls who are on another path. One is positive, the other negative…accentuate, eliminate…

How can someone so anti-war register as a Republican? Wow.
Sipos says we should eschew the Libertarian Party and even the word libertarian, and he is now registering to vote as a Republican after a stint as decline to state. For whatever that is worth.
Where Sipos writes: “Do libertarians want to promote their principles — or a political party?”

Nothing wrong with it as far as I can see.
If this is supposed to be a negative thing vis a vis Wayne, I don’t get it.
He appears to be promoting a quality product (one that I’m going to have a closer look at and consider buying, as a matter of fact). What’s wrong with that?
Sipos’ ability to be an embarrassment to the LP unfortunately does not depend on whether he’s current in his dues.
I’m curious if Wayne Root counts this as one of his media appearances?
Brian,
Unlike Tom Sipos, I don’t begrudge Wayne Root’s making commercials, and his style does not really bother me either.
Of course, we have to keep in mind that Mr. Sipos has not been a big L in some time – he changed his registration, first to decline to state some time ago, and more recently to Republican. His posts about the LP lately have been uniformly negative, although clearly he still pays close attention to its inner workings.
this is in the Pantheon with Keanu in The Matrix, Leonardo in Inception, Jason in Revolver…
I had NO idea!
Oh no, a Libertarian engaging in non-vampire-related commerce. Libertarians should stick to less embarrassing appearances — like as a sterile priest who fondles a strange staff while narrating: “How can I face this young man knowing like so many others what has happened to him?” (Under the fractured grammar of this high-budget script, the priest is apparently troubled that so many people already know what has already happened to the young man….)
