A blog entry on the Los Angeles Times website says, “We probably won’t get to know much about Wayne Root and Matt Gonzalez during tonight’s vice presidential debate in St. Louis. That’s because the vice presidential running mates of Libertarian Bob Barr and contrarian Ralph Nader are prohibited. Too risky for the two major parties to admit nobodies who might say something disturbing or challenging.”
Comedy Central’s Indecision 2008 blog also takes a look at Root, saying “WAR was trying to get out of the VP gig altogether by offering the job to Ron Paul. Paul, of course refused, but sources say he’s still mulling an invitation to call Root’s 800 number to learn the rock-solid guaranteed winner of next week’s Redskins-Eagles game — ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE IF YOU DIAL NOW!!!”

I don’t think Root was sincere in offering to give Ron Paul the VP slot?
Why? Because Root and the LNC don’t have it in their power to transfer that position. Look at state elections laws, and how hard it is just to replace Phillies with Barr in two states.
Root was “offering” something he knew he’d safely keep.
The reason? A talking point for 2012. “I’m so passionate for liberty! It’s not about me! It’s about liberty! I even offered to step aside for Rob Paul, for the good of the party! That’s how passionate I am for Ron Paul! How selflessly and passionately I love liberty! Blah, blah, blah, passion, blah, blah, blah, etc.”
W.A.R. – too risky for anyone to speak well of! The reason . . . EVERYONE (OK not everyone, but virtually everyone who knows OF him) knows that there just isn’t anything to “speak well of”, unless of course you’re buying a lemon in a used car lot, or are betting on Obama’s GPA at Columbia!
