Nader claims world record for most campaign speeches in one day

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader “says he now holds the world record for most campaign speeches in a single day,” the AP reports. Nader “said he delivered at least 255 minutes of speeches in 21 Massachusetts communities on Saturday,” which he says qualifies him for the Guinness Book of World Records. Guinness officials said Nader “needed to give at least 150 minutes of speeches, with each speech lasting at least 10 minutes. And each time, there must be at least 10 people watching who didn’t come with Nader.”

UPI says Nader campaign officials said Nader “raised thousands of dollars in small contributions, distributed thousands of pieces of campaign merchandise and spoke directly to well over 1,000 people, or an average of more than 50 people at every stop.”

Libertarian, Constitution and Green POTUS candidates should ALL be doing this.

When we schedule a local appearance for our candidates, do we merely have them in town for a dinner speech with the local activists (choir) or do we fill their days with one appearance after another?

We should always attempt to make our POTUS candidate breathless with a full schedule. Nader shows us that it CAN be done. Now it is up to the local activists to make our candidates schedules as hectic as possible.

    PEACE

Just to clarify, the Richardson thing didn’t happen “this weekend” — that’s a quote from an article that’s several years old.

Here is a legitimate Guinness Book record for campaigning… the amount of hands shook at a rally in a day.

Bill Richardson made news – and Guinness Book of World Records history — while campaigning in Albuquerque this weekend. Over an eight-hour period, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations shattered President Theodore Roosevelt’s record for the most handshakes by a politician.

“Richardson’s new mark of 13,392 for an eight-hour period, with a Guinness World Records official standing by, went well beyond the Roosevelt record of 8,513 handshakes set at the White House,” reported the Los Angeles Times. “Richardson divided his handshaking between the New Mexico State Fair and a tailgate party outside the University of New Mexico.”
