Ohio’s Portsmouth Daily Times profiles Dr. James Lundeen, who launched an independent bid for the White House on Thursday. Lundeen said, “I hope to present to the American public a very good solution to a combination of our current problems — including our economy, transportation and energy — and I plan to do this through a program to develop a comprehensive mass transportation system that services all Americans.”
The newspaper says Lundeen’s “program is called the Intermodal Transportation System, which he says will build upon the U.S. Interstate Highway System — resulting in a comprehensive mass transportation system, adding 45,000 miles of dual passenger rail for electric trains. Lundeen said the program will create jobs by requiring people to build and maintain the trains, rails and stations, as well as private sector industries (e.g. restaurants, hotels and entertainment) that will emerge around train stations.”
Lundeen, whose website is www.lundeen2008.com, ran for governor of Ohio as an independent in 2006 but failed to achieve ballot access. Lundeen “said a running mate has not been selected at this time; and he is looking for someone who shares his views, but also expands the experience of his ticket.”
Hmmm…Well I like the guy’s idea of a mass public transportation system.
Lundeen is getting FAR more media with this one interview for his POTUS campaign than for his write in campaign for OH guv.
I only saw him speak once. Not the most articulate guy in the world, esp. for a doctor (*IF* he is one).
His main hook or campaign theme last year was for the state to revive it’s economy by building an indoor NASCAR track.
