South Carolina Green to go before Elections Commission Friday

Eugene Platt has agreed to allow this writer to speak before the South Carolina Green Party. Why? Because the Commission staff has sent a message to the state’s political party officials in which he said that the state would refuse to place on the ballot in November any candidate who lost a Democratic or Republican primary, regardless of other party’s nominations. The email referenced South Carolina Code of LawsTitle 7, Chapter 11, Article 1, Section 7-11-10.

Platt has heard from several attorneys and political leaders in the state, including some who have been prominent leaders of both the Democratic and Republican parties who agree that Platt has violated no laws, and is fully entitled to run, and serve. Unfortunately, to this point, no attorney has been identified who can take on Platt’s case without compensation. An attorney with astonishing credentials has offered to represent Platt for a fee capped at $3000, but even that modest sum is beyond current resources. All guardian angels are encouraged to write for details of how they may be able to help Platt secure his place on the ballot come November. [email protected]

    Hi Richard,

Mr. Platt has called the state ACLU but they don’t have an office or staff in the state, just an answering machine. Hopefully he will hear from them before Friday.

Has Platt asked the South Carolina ACLU to represent him? The ACLU doesn’t charge when it represents someone in court.
