Amarillo Globe News columnist Enrique Rangel did a story yesterday on Libertarian Governor candidate Kathie Glass. He captured the uphill battle faced by third-party candidates with the media:
Despite holding the news conference in a downtown Austin hotel, few reporters covered it, a sharp contrast to the day after when Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis announced she will seek her party’s nomination …
The contrast in news coverage pretty much tells the struggle Libertarians and other third-party candidates face in Texas and across the nation. With rare exceptions, they seldom draw the kind of public attention needed for successful campaigns, or, at least for competitive races.
While not overwhelmingly supportive of third-party efforts, this was a pretty good article on the challenges faced by candidates.

Contested nomination at state party convention, iirc.
So it looks like she’s running against Lee Wrights. Will there be a primary?
