Anthony Tellez starts Virginia Unity PAC

http://www.virginiaunitypac.com/:

In the 2013 election, 45% of the seats for the House of Delegates were uncontested. The sheer number of uncontested seats implicates a problem with our democracy in the Commonwealth. It is the mission of our organization to support candidates who respect individual rights and private property rights with financial contributions and consultation for running a first time campaign. The organization seeks to increase the number of contested elections and facilitate the free exchange of ideas. It is our hope that we can play a part in bringing this number down to zero over the next several years.

It is our hope that we can bridge political divisions by focusing on a non-partisan issue: fostering contested elections and bringing accountability to our representatives by helping first time candidates stand on equal footing with incumbents. I am asking you to please volunteer your time, money and efforts to preserve our democracy. We cannot allow the status quo to continue if we seek to remain a free society.

Your Friend,

Anthony G. Tellez
President

Tellez was a Libertarian candidate for Delegate in the Virginia legislature last year. The facebook page for the PAC is here.

Uncontested is a residual of gerrymandering. Most people need to see a means of victory before they will make an attempt. Some just like to run for office.
