I noticed that too Andy essentially small claims court. I suspect where a lot of tenant v land lord disputes are settled.
Louisiana has some pretty impressive results this year.
And this job does have *some* substance to it. Adjudicating small claims on a local basis would be the highest elected office in the nation if some Libertarians had their way. 😉
Even if it’s a near-powerless job that nobody cares about, the fact that anybody was able to convince a majority of voters to vote for a candidate with the Libertarian ballot label over a major-party opponent is impressive and deserving of applause.

are elected to serve six year terms as the judicial authority of a ward or district.
have jurisdiction in civil matters when the amount in dispute does not exceed $5,000.
do not have jurisdiction when a title to real estate is involved, when the state or any political subdivision is a defendant, or in successions or probate matters.
can perform marriage ceremonies
