Libertarian Party: Dr. Marc Feldman Passed Away

UnknownFrom the LNC Business List:

I deeply regret to inform you that Dr. Marc Alan Feldman has passed away. Cause of death is not yet known. We have been able to verify he’s the same lovable Marc Feldman who ran for the LP presidential nomination just a few weeks ago.

So sorry to bring this sad news.

This is very sad news. Dr. Feldman was very confident and very comfortable in being himself. May his courage and skills set an example to be followed. RIP, Doc.

My condolences; the LP lost a very significant voice with his passing :/

I am on vacation and out of touch with my usual news sources. I was shocked to learn of this on my iPhone from CNN of all places. While it is sad that Dr. Feldman is deceased I believe he would be very happy to know that the headline was “Presidential candidate found dead…” I cannot think of any other year since the Libertarian Party was founded that one of the candidates for their nomination would have received this sort of coverage. Rest in peace Dr. Feldman and know that you played no small part in getting the LP to the point that notice of your demise was a national news story.

I ran a notice of Dr. Feldman’s death on my blog today, and embedded the Orlando rap; but I took the latter off later in the day when I found this one, to which music (by Thuglife) and subtitles have been added. I think it’s the best piece to remember him by: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_W8D0Pcs_Y

My condolences to his family. Shocking and sad.

    He’s in a better place.

  7. Thomas Knapp June 24, 2016

It was a pleasure to meet and briefly talk with Dr. Feldman in Orlando. He struck me as relentlessly positive and boundlessly energetic, and I never imagined that he’d be gone only weeks later. Best wishes to his family and friends.

A great man, a great Libertarian, I found Dr. Feldman to be the most likeable of all the candidates for POTUS at the convention. He felt like a friend even without actually knowing him This is a very sad day. And this is a terrible way to lose a friend. Everyone should reach out and support their friends, family and fellow libertarians … give them your love … you never know when they may be hurting and how much your caring attention can help them.

Wow. I don’t know what to say. While I didn’t always agree with him, I still found him to be charming, funny, and a good spokesman for the LP. I’m going to miss him.

  10. My condolences to the Feldman family. I met Marc in Orlando at the convention when I was a late entry to pursue the nomination for POTUS. He was encouraging to the pursuit of that goal, advising me that his pursuit had been ongoing since January, 2015; and jokingly, Marc said next time he might have to start a little earlier. I was looking forward to that next time, when I could show him I too was THAT Libertarian.
For the time being, I will strive to prove myself worthy of being THAT Libertarian Congressman of Indiana, and maybe in 2020 try again as THAT Libertarian: GSKales4POTUS.com

Oh no! I voted for Dr. Feldman at the convention. I also gave Dr. Feldman a high five as he ran by me when he found out he was going to be in the Presidential candidates debate. This happy event was seen by millions on C-SPAN.

In England a couple of days ago Jo Cox a wife and mother of two young children and a member of Parliament was murdered. It was so tragic the Prime Minister gave a speech to the nation where he spoke of her selfless public service and that her murder cannot defeat the will of the people.

Sometimes I ask why and there is no answer.

Governor Johnson should make a statement concerning Dr. Feldman’s passing.
Dr. Feldman (and Jo Cox) RIP.

For those of you who did not see my post on facebook:

    Dr. Marc Allan Feldman.

When I woke up this morning, the very last thing I ever imagined a need to contemplate was the passing of this particular friend. He was not just my friend; he touched the lives of so many people it is impossible to feel anything but loss for his passing. Many of us have Marc Allan stories to tell, many are funny, many are serious, but even when he was totally in the game, he never forgot his roots. On two occasions while we were all in Orlando, people came looking for a doctor, and he dropped what he was doing and went.

A servant to the people, a servant to the party, he worked tirelessly to promote a singular message of party unification. During his closing remarks in the presidential debate, he used the words: “I’m THAT kind of Libertarian!” He described all of us in those two minutes, and in doing so said that we ALL belonged in that room, we all have a voice within the party, and we all have a common theme as we embark from the convention with our messages of Liberty and Libertarianism.

I have one word for having had the privilege of working with him. Gratitude! Marc, your swan song was a thing of beauty. You have touched all of us, and on this day, I am working to become THAT kind of Libertarian as well! Fare well my friend, may we meet again.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Scheetz

I’m very sorry to hear about his death… it is a great loss to the Libertarian Party and the libertarian movement. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace.

I greatly enjoyed Marc’s debate performance in Orlando. A few days after the convention he called me on Skype and I chatted with him for a few minutes while he tested out a new video setup. He will live on in our memories.

  14. Matt Cholko June 23, 2016

The cause and place of death are irrelevant to me. It’s a terrible tragedy. He certainly seemed like a great guy. I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours of my life with him, and I’m better for it.

  15. Stewart Flood June 23, 2016

That was a pretty crass comment to make.

This was a very shocking turn of events. You don’t expect someone to just die suddenly, and it is certainly a very sad thing for his family to have to go through.

    RIP Dr Feldman.

Found dead in a motel in the same town he lived in. Doesn’t sound very good. BDSM play gone bad?

    I’m honestly shocked

  18. Shawn Levasseur June 23, 2016

  19. J.R.Myers for President June 23, 2016

It was a pleasure to debate Marc a few months back. He was an ardent defender of Liberty. He was intelligent, polite and an excellent debater. RIP DR.MAF!

  20. Shawn Levasseur June 23, 2016

I remember during the CSPAN presidential debate at the LP convention, I participated in this twitter exchange after Dr. Feldman’s closing remarks:

    .@MattWelch #Feldmania— ShawnL @ LPCon (@SSL_Con) May 29, 2016

  21. Steve Kerbel June 23, 2016

Marc was a good friend. A kind and gentle man with a sharp wit and the desire to fight for liberty. I do not have words for the sadness that I feel from his passing. He does leave us with a great message… Have no fear. Thank you for all you have done for our world Marc. Condolences to your family, and rest in peace.

  22. Brad June 23, 2016

Can’t believe it. I really liked the guy – despite his $5 campaign limit. He brought a lot of passion that was missing from almost every other candidate.

    RIP, Marc.

  23. William Saturn June 23, 2016

Condolences to his family. He seemed like a genuinely good guy. Rest in Peace.

There is a news story about his death. I linked to it at BAN.

  26. Mark Axinn June 23, 2016

    Agree with all above.

Terrible news, especially as many of us got to meet him in the last few months as he made the Convention circuit ending with his magnificent performance in Orlando.

We all express our condolences to his family.

    Go with God, Marc Allan.

  27. Matthew Schutter June 23, 2016

At least he got into the debate at the convention. He will forever be know as that kind of Libertarian! At least your now free Marc, you will be missed!

  28. Mark Hilgenberg June 23, 2016

  33. Darryl W. Perry June 23, 2016

Just received word from Carla Howell that Marc Allan Feldman passed away.
I got to know Marc over the last 7 months in the campaign trail. While we didn’t always agree, we became friends and I respected his opinions.
I send my condolences to his family and other friends.
    Shalom

  34. Chad M DeSantis June 23, 2016

Rest in peace, Dr Feldman. You’ve been a hero and an inspiration. I’ll forever strive to be that Libertarian.

  35. Jill Pyeatt June 23, 2016

This is indeed heartbreaking news. Dr. Feldman really won me over in CA. He had a very nice way about him, besides being obviously bright and often hilarious.

I believe he lost a son to cancer sometime in the past couple years. Now his family needs to bear this terrible loss.

    The world sure sucks sometimes.

  36. Andy June 23, 2016

He spelled Allan with two l’s, not one.

  37. Joe June 23, 2016

    THAT Libertarian!

My daughter Anna and I stood together cheering his magnificent debate performance in Orlando.

He will forever be THAT Libertarian!

  38. Andy June 23, 2016

Damn, this is very sad news. I talked to him at the National Convention in Orlando and he seemed like a great guy. He really improved as a speaker during the course of the presidential nomination, and i image that people will watch his spirited debate performances for years to come. I was recently thinking that he ought to run for office again in Ohio. He would have made a good candidate for Governor. RIP.

  39. George Phillies June 23, 2016

    Sad and surprising news.

  40. Tony From Long Island June 23, 2016

This is sad news. I enjoyed watching him during the debate.
