European Greens Urge Green Nominee Jill Stein to End Presidential Bid, Back Democrat Kamala Harris

The European Green Party, a transnational coalition of Green Parties with member organizations from over three dozen nations, has called on Dr. Jill Stein to withdraw from the U.S. presidential election and endorse Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

In a statement Friday, the European Greens said the election was “too close for comfort” and urged Stein to exit the race and support Harris, asserting that the latter is “the only candidate who can block Donald Trump and his anti-democratic, authoritarian policies from the White House.” European Green Party co-chairs Mélanie Vogel and Thomas Waitz, along with Green parties from sixteen nations, signed in support of the statement.

The European Greens warned of potential consequences should Trump win a second term, expressing concerns that he would further restrict abortion access, roll back legal protections for gay and transgender individuals, and increase the current rate of mass deportations. The group also compared Trump’s priorities to those of other international leaders such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, and Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, fearing that a second Trump administration could dismantle democratic institutions seen as crucial for addressing climate change.

“In this crucial moment, Europe needs Kamala Harris as President of the United States, to be a reliable partner and to take the urgent, decisive action needed on the climate crisis, and to bring about a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East,” the group proclaims.

Notably, with several days remaining until the general election, even if Stein did withdraw from the presidential race, there is no practical way for her to do so that would remove her name from state election ballots. Additionally, early voting is underway in a majority of states, with over 55 million Americans having already cast a ballot.

The statement further distances the European Greens from the GPUS, referencing an earlier split between the two organizations over foreign policy, particularly the GPUS’ stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “There is no link between the two, as the US Greens are no longer a member of the global organisation of Green parties,” the statement reads, citing “serious policy differences on key issues including Russia’s full scale assault on Ukraine.”

“I told them all last week to go get stupid.”

    Will they upgrade, though?

Most European Green Parties support the genocide in Gaza, and US/NATO poking Russia with the sharp stick. Plus, even on environmental issues, they’re generally neolibs.

I told them all last week to go get stupid.

Why the libertarian guy is right and the EU Green Party is wrong? Well, the Libertarian guy endorsed the lesser evil. The EU Green Party endorsed the bigger evil. That is why I’m “hypocritical”. When your enemy is the globalist-leftist-capitalist axis you can’t be principled, until you want to lose (as the LP knows by direct experience). I prefer to be an hypocritical than to be arrested for thoughtcrime or nuked in WWIII.

About the “open borders and freedoms”: the EU Green Party supports both restrictions on freedoms AND no-restrictions on open borders. But TBH I think Stein supports at least the open borders more or less the same as the Dems, although I’m not sure if she supports the same censorship in name of political correctness that the EU Green and the Dems support.

Regarding warmongerism, it is always relative. Trump is more pacifist than the Dem team, but he is not a full dove. Just a relative one. The same for Stein. It’s hard to be more pro-war than the Biden’s crowd – they guy voted for Iraq War even when the dems were still pretending to be anti-war during George Bush’s government. Naturally the neocons RINOs are against Trump and for Biden, of course.

BTW Israel is not a small child to depend eternally on American taxpayer, it can kill or be killed by its semitic partners on war crime (Palestine) without America’s help, just look how the terrorist groups leadership changes each week because the Israeli killed the last leader of week (btw religious fanaticism is insane, these guys still wanting to be the leader of the terrorists knowing they will be dead in one month?). Anyway, Bloods and Crips. Ditto for the Slavs (Ukraine and Russia). Except for Trump and his peace deal between Israel and the a few Arab states (Bahrain, UAE), outsiders were unable to make these guys stop to kill themselves. Bidet having zero effect, torn between the party’s pro-Palestinian base who may “betray” the donkey and vote for Stein, West or others, and certain lobbies and party donors I can’t talk openly because, being someone from a Third World S-Hole, I’m not protected by the First Amendment…

As pointed out in the other thread, interesting juxtaposition between External comment here and the other one from the same source “Honestly? Good. He did the right thing IMO. Sometimes a person needs to be realistic instead of idealistic, and accept the imperfect but possible against both the better but impossible AND the way more imperfect but equally possible.” In response to a minor party activist endorsing Trump. That seems to be equivalent to exactly the position the European Greens are asking Stein to take re Harris .

Dr Stein is not against wars. She’s against Israel’s right of self defense. She takes a relatively more rational position in Russia related matters, or did the last time I checked. She supports class war, although she probably doesn’t call it that and isn’t on the ostensible side of her own class as Karl Marx defined classes. In reality, she is surreptitiously on the side of her own economic class, although she may not realize it. She certainly isn’t on the side of either her nation or ethnic group.

She certainly supports the government’s hypocritical and counterproductive (to stated aims) war on poverty. She most likely considers herself a social justice warrior, or at the least used to before the term was largely rebranded as pejorative.

Her personal investments are hypocritical on war and Israel related matters .

“restrictions on freedom and open borders” <– contradiction in terms. There will be no freedoms at all in sufficiently short order if open borders provide unlimited entry for every hostile foreign regime to dump its prisoners, chronically homeless, contagious disease carriers, mentally ill, ex cons, etc ; every terrorist group, religious or other cult, criminal syndicate and criminal of every kind has likewise free entry, along with welfare seeking freeloaders of every sort (not just the poor ones, either). That's a suicidal form of freedom, albeit entrapping many unwilling fellow countrymen and women and all their progeny forevermore alongside the suicides.

May I be too bold to suggest the inverse – maybe Kamela should drop from the race and give the Dem position to Stein? Jill Stein at least never missed the debates with two ideological adversaries of her ideology (a capitalist, Chase Oliver, and a religious conservative, Randall Terry) in the Free and Equal Foundation. I suppose she does not need a teleprompter as that entitled product of the DC Swamp. Probably Stein is able to talk about the issues instead of deflecting and cackling, even if we may disagree with her. But of course the Dems will never do that – Ms. Stein is against wars, which mess with their corrupt interests.

According to the somewhat anti-progressive German leftist Sahra Wagenknecht, the European Greens are the worst warmongers against Russia. They also despise nuclear energy and dilute their original goal of environmental protection by supporting all restrictions on freedom and open borders the mainstream left supports, with even more fanaticism than the social-democrats and the centrist liberals (the so-called Renew Europe Group, although I’m not sure what they want to “renew” since they are the biggest supporters of the status quo in the EU).

The fact that US Greens are at least independent regarding the mainstream globalist left candidate (Kamela) and the warmachine which support her is undeniable positive view. Better than Bernie and the DSA who immediately bow themselves for the candidates of American big business and the industrial-military complex in their paranoia against “the evil orange man”.

It’s cute that a bunch of EU clowns think they can boss around a bunch of US clowns. These are some of the very same clowns, btw, who are stupid enough to think they’ll get away with persecuting Elon Musk for making Twitter/X slightly less anti-free speech U+1F606

“The European Greens warn of potential consequences should Trump win a second term, expressing concerns that he would further restrict abortion access, roll back legal protections for gay and transgender individuals”

The Log Cabin RINO who doesn’t want to ban abortions and doesn’t think they’re a big deal, is suddenly going to have a change of heart and start restricting the murder of babies and rolling back LGBTQ+ privileges, benefits and indemnities? If he had any intention to do so, he would not have deliberately alienated pro-life, straight and cis voters the way he has. I won’t completely discount the possibility of divine intervention, but I am going to rebuke counting on miracles as a form of testing the Lord thy God, and to ridicule the notion that these satanic clowns could ever predict what the Holy Ghost will do.

“The group also compares Trump’s priorities to those of other international leaders such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, and Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro”

Hah, I wish! Can we please trade Trump for any one of them after he inevitably wins the election? Preferably Bolsonaro, given his covid track-record and the fact that they didn’t name Lukashenko.

“Europe needs Kamala Harris as President of the United States, to be a reliable partner and to take the urgent, decisive action […] to bring about a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East”

So “reliable” and “decisive” that Israel is turning to Russia to broker “just and unsustainable peace”, rather than wait for the US to inevitably stab them in the back yet again. Relatively smart, since with “allies” like the US who needs enemies, but not nearly as smart as not brokering any peace until Israel is free of nazi terrorists ‘from the river to the sea’.

“an earlier split between the two organizations over foreign policy, particularly the GPUS’ stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

In other words, in the Europe even the Greens are worse somehow. …Or should that be, the Greens are even worse somehow… U+1F914
