Dear Ambassador Valdivieso,

We are sickened by reports that as many as one hundred indigenous protesters have been murdered by Peruvian police while opposing the destruction of their land under free trade agreements signed without their consent. The incredible brutality exhibited by the Peruvian government toward these people reminds us of the Spanish embassy fire in Guatemala in 1980 when it was torched to kill indigenous protesters seeking refuge within. It was an unspeakable act which turned the world against the Guatemalan government, just as these latest killings are doing now to your government.

When, we want to know, will the slaughter of indigenous people cease in this hemisphere? When they are all gone and corporations can freely exploit and destroy their lands?

Tomorrow a national strike will begin in defense of those whose rights and lives have been so severely injured by your government. [NOTE: As of 6/15/2009 the strike was called off. See Reuters report: here.] We call on the government of President Alan Garcia Perez to step down from a confrontation with the strikers and to call off the armed forces and police. Allow the indigenous people, their leaders, organizations and supporters to exercise their right to seek redress from the government. The Freedom Socialist Party stands in solidarity with the strikers and the National Front for Life and Sovereignty. We will be watching closely what transpires.

Sincerely,

Guerry Hoddersen
International Secretary
Freedom Socialist Party, U.S.

that’s the best you can come up with, Gary?

I’m a socialist because I’m a refugee from the USSR? How pathetic.

And yes, you are Gary – more Calcutta leper than Mother Theresa. I checked the IP, and you have posted from it before, genius.

FYI: I did not post as Schpankel or Ron Paul and I did not call you a socialist.

I heard Gary Fincher was a socialist. Andy Jacobs told me”

Nope, that wasn’t Gary Fincher who was a socialist – it was Paulie. He was even born in the USSR. Nuff said.

The worst big town mayor since Jerry Springer, Kansas City’s Mark Funkhouser, is protected by the corrupt mafia ghosts of the Pendergast gang.

[As totally predictable] the elections [deflections] officials in KCMO short counted the grass roots, shoe string Funky Mayor recall camp petition efforts. Not only was the bar raised unfairly high [16K] under an unreasonable short time line, but the forces of good had to come up with a $10,000 bride, ah fee, for a recount.

Ballet Access Net ran blogs, BAN and IPR did not, even tho it involved ballot access and was run by independent FORMER Funkhouser supporters literally on a wing, a prayer, and HUGH public resentment of yet another public reformer [England’s Oliver Cromwell?] gone bad!

As expected, the count was short under one percent of the needed barrier, ah, bench mark! It is expected that the same final results would have occurred no matter what the gross signature count. The fix was in! Kansas City, Chicago West!

Trent, I have a new URL for my blog. http://www.mfrc.us – could you please change the “Contributor’s Blogs” thing?

Paula, Paula, Paula, keep on re-arraigning the deck chairs on the Titanic……..

Agreed with Don. The Catholic Trotskyist Party joins the Freedom Socialist Party in its condemnation of the Peruvian government. Perhaps we should all organize a trip to go protest there like McKinney did for Gaza.

Speak up. We can’t directly fine tune or completely control the world, but it is a political sin to remain silent during evil. We have to document abuse [such as lethal veterans’ programs] or it is as if it ‘never happened’!
