Forward Party-aligned Mayor Jeni Arndt of Fort Collins, Colorado, and former Augusta, Georgia Mayor Deke Copenhaver will host a virtual panel next week focused on exploring nonpartisan leadership opportunities for current and aspiring mayoral officials.
“Have you been looking for a way to serve your constituents in a truly non-partisan way outside of partisan politics and party litmus tests?” event details shared this week read. “Are you looking for infrastructure and a movement to help you to do that? Come meet other mayors who are part of the movement and learn more about how Forward is changing the way people lead!”
The event is scheduled for Friday, August 8, at 2:00 PM EST and will be held remotely over Zoom. According to the party, the session is intended for mayors. Independent Political Report is aware of at least one current mayor and one mayoral candidate who have registered to attend. Registration details are available on the party’s website.
The Forward Party has gained several municipal officials since its national launch, particularly among mayors. In May 2023, Jordan Marlowe, mayor of Newberry, Florida, became the first sitting mayor to formally join the party after leaving the Libertarian Party. Later that same year, Arndt became the first Forward-affiliated mayor when she joined the party’s affiliate program as a Forward Democrat, while maintaining her Democratic Party registration.
Meanwhile, Copenhaver served as mayor of Augusta from 2005 through 2014 and later joined the Forward Party’s national advisory board in 2024, according to a past social media post.
