LG, you guys have it on the public election ballot, which is what I referred to (EVERY LP affiliate has it on their ballots!), and I wish other states had that election choice as well.
JT, the most prominent LP member getting face time in media is Ron Paul, and they don’t mention him either. Methinks they is picking and is choosing, and doing so not so well.
Seebeck: “Meanwhile no mention of syndicated columnist Vin Suprynowicz in Vegas, or regular columnist and LP member Steven Greenhut in the Orange County Register.”
Um, they were just mentioning “broadcast radio, television, and cable news appearances.” They said IN ADDITION to these and mentioned Bar, as he was the latest LP presidential nominee. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not mentioning every libertarian writer on this list. That doesn’t mean they never heard of any of them.
Mike, NOTA is an awesome choice. We use it during LP officer elections and candidate nominations too.
JD__He may not be an absentee activist like the current state chair, but Vin has been far from non-existent.
me__ LOL – somebodys pissed we elected a new Chair , get over it please . you know damn well Silvestri life guards in New York for the summer .
Jim , to to Vin has has a presence is laughable . you used to talk the same smack about him , but now I guess you just take whatever position is opposite mine .
funny , lol .
To compare our Chair to Vin is positively ridiculous .
you are ridiculous.
perhaps my dates were wrong but thats it . after he spoke , we went to Main Street Station where apparently he got super pissed we didnt buy his meal . He did attend the Badnarik fundraiser … FOR FREE , we gave him a free ticket to get him there , and he didnt even do a story on it after .
do you deny what Ive said?
quit twisting the facts at every opportu ity just to have a difference with me 🙂
Well, I seem to recall he did write a column why, and it had to do with the fact that he wouldn’t vote Obama and he felt Barr was inadequate, and I forget what he said about Baldiwn, but he wound up with McCain by default. (I know, why not the NOTA option that NV has?–an option that I wish every state had!)
Ditto what Dave just said in post #25.
“I am disappointed that Vin voted for McCain in 08. I still think he should have voted with Ron Paul, like I did, but nobody is perfect.”
Vin voted for McCain. YUCK! My opinion of him just dropped.
Vin not only spoke at a large LP meeting in May of 2005, when on a book tour for ‘Black Arrow’, he also bought a ticket to and attended a fundraiser dinner at the conclusion of the 04 campaign. Both benefitted the Clark County LP of which you are now Vice Chair lg.
I am disappointed that Vin voted for McCain in 08. I still think he should have voted with Ron Paul, like I did, but nobody is perfect.
He may not be an absentee activist like the current state chair, but Vin has been far from non-existent.
Try checking your facts before villifying people in the blogosphere little girl.
In liberty, with eternal vigilance,
Jim Duensing
Game, set, match for RadGeek.
TK_Vin was hands-down the libertarian movement’s most reliable voice in the mainstream media.
maybe he’s a good author for the ‘libetarian movement’ .
He’s a piss poor , non existent helper of his local LP.
Gary , that article is just like Vin
Mike , trust me , he hasnt done shit for us here in Nevada.
he did 1 article on Joe Silvestri concerning his being censured from showing Roots to his classroom and thats it .
we are a skeleton crew of hardworking activists , like yourself , and trust me , we could use desperately a vin-bump .
fuck him , this is a touchy subject for me, where the hell is he
well we’ve had a good but struggling LP here in NV and some very good candidates . Not 1 plug , not 1 mention ever .
The last we heard from Vin , we had him come speak back in like 02 and we didnt pay for his meal at the gathering afterwards and offended his celebrity. He never came back , guess we werent big time enuf for him.
he’s an arrogant , un-helpful man. no conventions , no endorsements no nothing and coming from a hard working LP activist , Vin can kiss my ass.
Have I mentioned Wayne took time out to speak at our county meeting a long time ago , and unfortunately we only had like 8 people there .
Nope. If anything, it’s a misinterpretation.
Check his volumes of columns in the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper site. And check out his numerous books as well. He tends to disagree with the LP platform on immigration, but so do a lot of people. Don’t rely on others’ interpretations–see it for yourself, in his own words.
He does do his share for the LP. He has been a speaker, including keynote, and various LP conventions, including the 2003 LPCO which I helped organize and run, and has promoted the LP. But like a lot of things, the lack of publicity beyond the local or regional is the ongoing problem. A lot of the time nobody in the LP seems to know what everyone else is doing, all around.
I’m not begrudging Root his media. All I’m saying is that there is more than just the folks listed above.
One of these years LPHQ will get their act together and become a true informational clearinghouse for all things LP, and then the publicity problems will be a lot closer to being solved.
Quoth LG:
“As for Vin he hasnt done shit for the LP in a long time , ever that I have memory of.”
For a number of years, Vin was hands-down the libertarian movement’s most reliable voice in the mainstream media. He seems to have come completely unhinged on immigration lately (and somewhat on foreign policy before that), but that shouldn’t be allowed to diminish his previous contributions.
He served as the LP’s 2000 vice-presidential candidate in Arizona.
LG @15: I first ran across Vin here:
http://radgeek.com/gt/2009/06/19/libertarians-against-property-rights/
Is the posture reflected in the stuff Charles quotes and paraphrases fairly typical of Vin?
Just pointing out Wayne has his strengths Mike:)
maybe I was a little over-zealous .
As for Vin he hasnt done shit for the LP in a long time , ever that I have memory of .
He writes a frickin article , has he EVER helped the local LP here . Nope , Never .
wayne has , he’s a dues paying member , paid a yr ahead of time .
thanks Wayne:)
LG @4:
LPHQ is not the end-all and be-all of all LP media appearances. They should be that, but they are nowhere near it.
That list is Root, Boortz, and Nolan, with one by Napalitano (who’s actually a Republican), and a column mention of Barr.
Meanwhile no mention of syndicated columnist Vin Suprynowicz in Vegas, or regular columnist and LP member Steven Greenhut in the Orange County Register.
The point is that a “step up or shut up” gauntlet is just stupid. There’s a lot of LP media work going on that LPHQ doesn’t know about, or won’t care to acknowledge.
DRL , I think Monds is a fine candidate and it certainly doesnt hurt that he’s black , we need color desperately in the LP
Hell yeah Austin shoulda been n t.v , he’s a flippin hottie!
I like Austin Petersen, he should have been booked on shows when he worked at the LP. Is Donny Ferguson planning on going on TV? What about Wes Benedict?
I think that if Root wants any success, he should try running for Congress before even thinking about the 2012 Presidential election.
lib grrl: so is Mister Monds an awesome asset for the wide spectrum alternative non Dem and non GOP anti Duopoly Establishment effort? so is IPR really Independent Political Report or do you consider this site merely an informal side slide [and gross hypocrisy] into end less bickering for the Libertarian Debating Society?
Huh? [email protected]

Ive been to Monds website , he is an awesome asset for the LP . I too urge everyone to give the man some money!
You might want to cruise over to John Monds (L) website. He’s not as active as Mr. Root, but is a declared candidate for the 2010 race for the Governor of Georgia. He will at the least cause a run off and with a bit of help from Libertarians nationwide might bring unrestricted ballot access to the state of Georgia for all Libertarian candidates by polling 20% or better. There is not a better chance in the 2010 cycle for the Libertarian party to break some records and cross some thresholds than this race. Google him up and see for yourself, then send the man a dollar.
good for him!
WAR is on Gary Nolan every nite this week??
Maybe WAR is trying to learn what it means to be Libertarian!!
🙂
PEACE
wayne is everywhere , like usual .
where are all the other LPers , ecsp Pres candidates and their media appearances?
the gauntlets down suckers step up or shut up
You are welcome.
Yes, thanks.
Did you get that article on the Free State Project that I thought I sent last night?
