Green National Committee Names Darryl! L.C. Moch to Finance Committee

The Green National Committee has reappointed Darryl! L.C. Moch of the D.C. Statehood Green Party to the Green Party of the United States’ Finance Committee, returning him to a formal seat after he had been supporting its work in an advisory role.

The appointment follows a proposal from the D.C. Statehood Green Party first introduced in late April. After nearly two weeks of private discussion, National Committee delegates approved Moch in a 49-6 vote, with two delegates abstaining. Two-thirds of active, accredited state affiliates and caucuses were required for quorum, while approval required a simple majority of participating delegates.

Moch currently chairs the D.C. Statehood Green Party and serves as co-chair of the party’s National Black Caucus. According to background information included with the proposal, he is also a former national co-chair of the GPUS and has served several terms on the Finance Committee. His most recent term had expired, though he continued working with the committee in an advisory capacity while the D.C. affiliate pursued his reappointment.

The proposal further says that Moch previously helped manage party accounts and financial affairs in an interim capacity before a prior special election for party treasurer. He also remains a signatory on the party’s accounts and sought reappointment to help maintain continuity in its financial operations. Outside the Green Party, Moch has served in nonprofit leadership roles involving fiscal oversight, fundraising, donor relations, and organizational management.

The GPUS Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring and overseeing party finances while advising the Steering Committee on fiscal matters. Its work includes preparing the party’s draft annual budget, recommending later revisions, coordinating with staff and party leadership, and helping ensure the national party follows its fiscal policy.

The committee is also involved in certain matters related to investments, audits, and areas where finances overlap with fundraising or merchandise. Its membership consists of the party’s financial leadership, participating Steering Committee members, relevant staff in a non-voting role, and other members nominated by state affiliates and approved by the National Committee.

Prior to Moch’s reappointment, the Finance Committee had four voting members, including three from the Steering Committee and one from the Young EcoSocialists Caucus. Charles Ostdiek of the Nebraska Green Party currently chairs the committee, while the national treasurer position, which also serves as a committee co-chair, is vacant. Moch is expected to assume his duties immediately.
