The Libertarian National Committee has released the final list of representative regions for the new term, formalizing which state affiliates will share regional representation on the national party’s governing board.
Evan McMahon, the newly elected LNC chair, shared the finalized region map this week to the committee’s public Business List. McMahon said region numbers had initially been assigned based on when agreements were submitted during the national convention, but were later renumbered to follow party tradition.
“While there is no set policy for the numbering of regions, there is a tradition and I was asked (politely in most cases) to adhere to that tradition,” McMahon wrote. “I gave it some thought and said I would renumber the regions accordingly. These are the redone and final region numbers.”
Regions are groups of state Libertarian Party affiliates that join together to provide representation on the LNC between national conventions. Under party bylaws, affiliates may form representative regions by mutual consent, with each region receiving one representative and one alternate for each 10 percent of national sustaining membership it represents. A full list is below:
| Region | Affiliates | Representative | Alternate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Region 0 | Michigan, Wyoming | None | None |
| Region 1 | Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Minnesota, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee | Austin Martin of Hawaii | Sonja Feintech of Oregon |
| Region 2 | Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Dakota, South Dakota | Joe Hannoush of Florida | Omar Recuero of Florida |
| Region 3 | Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Louisiana | Dustin Coffell of Missouri | Greg Hertzsch of Indiana |
| Region 4 | California | Mimi Robson of California | Barbara Engelhardt of California |
| Region 5 | Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina | Susan Hogarth of North Carolina | Travis Bost of West Virginia |
| Region 6 | Pennsylvania, Delaware, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire | Alfa Shaw of Pennsylvania | Pat Ford of Rhode Island |
| Region 7 | Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas | Olivia Hayse of Kansas | Michelle Wigington of Texas |
| Region 8 | New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Illinois | Tyler Danke of Wisconsin | Rose Leatherman of New York |
| Region 9 | Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Nevada | Alex Flores of Arizona | Jesse Phillips of Washington |
There are nine representative regions this term. The party also lists Michigan and Wyoming as Region 0 affiliates, a shorthand sometimes used for affiliates that are not part of any representative region. Those affiliates do not have regional representation on the LNC, though their members still participate in the national party through at-large members elected by national convention delegates.
A member of the Libertarian National Committee confirmed to Independent Political Report that the recent disaffiliation of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire will not affect Region 6, as the region remains above the 10 percent threshold needed for representation.

I did not include this in the article body because it was not my creation, but Darryl Perry compiled the following map based on these regions. For folks who have followed Libertarian politics longer than I have, have there been past terms where the regions were this fragmented?
