Oscar Grant was killed by Bay Area Rapid Transit officer Johannes Mehserle on January 1st of this year. Video footage of his killing is widely available online.

January 7th Prisoner Of Conscious Committee Minister of Information JR went to cover unrest in the Oakland community by folks angered by the killing for KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station. Along with about 100 others, he was arrested, and his camera was taken by the police.

According to a report at the San Francisco Bay View, the judge in JR’s trial has said that he is being “reckless” for asserting his innocence. The article includes two interviews about the case with Cynthia McKinney, one with Davey D, the second with Dennis Bernstein.

The San Francisco Bay Journal is calling on people in the bay area to attend the trial Thursday, Sept. 3, 9 a.m., at 661 Washington St., Courtroom 112.

Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was the Green Party candidate for President in 2008.
