Sex Work Advocate: Green Party “Backward” on Prostitution

SOM  Tits and Sass blog contributor Brit Schulte, with assistance from Cathryn Berarovich, takes the Green Party to task over its anti-choice stance on prostitution in an August 4 post, and faults presumptive GP nominee Jill Stein for failing to speak out on the issue.

“Calling for increased top-down legislation, more police, and harsher sentences for sex workers and their communities puts you on the same side as those advocating for the continued expansion of the prison industrial complex, mass incarceration, and the targeting of marginalized communities for carceral punishment,” writes Schulte.… Read more ...

Johnson Campaign Forms Libertarian Advisory Board

Following the July 17th meeting of the Libertarian National Committee in Las Vegas, the Gary Johnson for President campaign is forming an advisory board consisting of “a small group of high profile Libertarians,” according to Johnson staffer Steve Kerbel.

During a Q&A session with Johnson campaign manager Ron Nielson at last weekend’s LNC meeting, Region 1 LNC Representative (and fellow IPR editor) Caryn Ann Harlos and I both expressed concern over the campaign’s messaging and the need to ensure that Gary Johnson is hearing from libertarian advisors.… Read more ...

De-Vote.org Seeks to Help Voters Escape False Dichotomy of Two-Party Cartel

It’s widely recognized that many if not most people who vote Democrat are far from delighted with their party’s leaders, and only support them in order to keep Republicans from getting in who they fear would be even worse. Similarly, the average grassroots Republican voter is not particularly happy with the GOP’s leadership, but fear of what Democrats might do in office keeps them voting for politicians they often see as mediocre at best.… Read more ...

Grassroots Ron Paul supporters organize “Rock The rEVOLution Tour”

Inspired by Ron Paul’s quote that “I always knew that if you were going to have a revolution you needed two things, young people and music”, some of the libertarian Republican presidential candidate’s supporters have launched a multi-city benefit tour featuring pro-freedom bands, musicians, rappers, and libertarian speakers.

Zak Carter, the main promoter who has been organizing the tour, said at the San Francisco show tonight, the fourth of the tour, that he has plunged into this project with little experience.… Read more ...

Occupy movement shows significant pro-freedom leanings

I went by the Occupy San Francisco camp outside the Federal Reserve building at 101 Market Street yesterday. This thing is really going strong. Although it was late at night, there were maybe 30-40 people camped there, many sleeping, some sitting around talking, etc. Lots of signs, fliers, books, materials, free food that supporters have dropped off, etc.… Read more ...
