The AP reports Republican Indiana state senator John Waterman said he will run for governor as candidate of the new Taxpayers Party if supporters gather the approximately 33,000 signatures needed to place him and running mate Glenna Jehl on the ballot. A Waterman adviser said the new party, “which favors repeal of property taxes, would dissolve next Jan. 20 and its sole purpose was for a Waterman ticket. If Waterman is able to get on the ballot and somehow manage to win, he said he would serve as a Republican governor once the Taxpayers Party dissolved.”

He joins Libertarian Andy Horning and independent Steve Bonney as alternative candidates who are anti-property taxes.
Property taxes sky-rocketed this year, causing a lot of people on fixed incomes to lose their homes, so it’s a hot issue. I am surprised that these campaigns didn’t get started earlier and get more momentum.
It sounds like he’s drinking the LP candidates milkshake, running on that platform.
Odd that he chose the moniker he did. Perhaps he’d like help the CP in Indiana.
